Fitted the stator to the "good" XL250 engine. Of course this didn't go
exactly swimmingly either (plus there's a good chance that the clutch
pushrod is seized) but it's in now.

CBA to go back into the garage to continue working on it so I'll be
off trying out the K75. If anybody spots a miserable, wet git on a
purple bike somewhere between Ashford and Lydd, that'll be me...

  2. Same applied to the fast ford at the weekend. It's been standing for well
over a year, put a battery on it, added best part of 2l of oil (pixies must
have nicked it), topped up the coolant, turned the key and it started.

MOT next, or at least, pre-MOT check.

Austin Shackles. www.ddol-las.net my opinions are just that
"The breezy call of incense-breathing Morn, The swallow twittering
from the strawbuilt shed, The cock's shrill clarion, or the echoing
horn, No more shall rouse them from their lowly bed."

I thought the pixies had been at my oil once but they hadn't - it had
dribbled back past a dodgy one-way valve in the oil pump and filled up
    the crankcases.
This was discovered after I had topped up the oil and started the
    engine, of course ...

  5. Ah - old Velocettes were good at that. There was a mod for it, but I
can't remember what it was, now.
