That happened to my last year when the gas main split.
I turned up to my cousins BBQ 3 hours early.
We were really pissed before the guests arrived, got even more pissed as the
    night wore on.
He got an almighty bollocking from his missus the next morning.
Why do women always wait until the morning?

Well at least it's a new experience for me.

About 3 hours ago the police knocked my door and said "Good afternoon,
grab a coat you're being evacuated" At our crossroads in the village
an Oxygen tanker had crashed and they were worried that it might
explode. I'm back home now (yes obviously).

It might explode and cover the area in highly toxic oxygen? Whats next,
evacuating fish because an evian tanker crashes against some rocks?

No it wasn't at all. It was meant to be a joke, and I'd have prefered
    you found it funny.

I think the issue is relating to the explosion itself, not what is
    released afterwards.

Why do you think you aren't allowed to smoke in the wards in a hospital?

I hope you're joking. Do you not know how flammable and explosive
    pure oxygen is?

Pure oxygen is highly explosive stuff! It can also be highly toxic too.

  13. Because of the jobsworth bureaucrats.
I tried a cigarette in a pure oxygen atmosphere.
    It burns like magnesium.

The oxygen concentration even with an oxygen mask
is not enough to be dangerous to smokers.

Just about anything burns in pure oxygen, including people who are wearing
clothes which generate minute static sparks whenever they move.

Pure oxygen is fucking dangerous stuff.

ITYF that oxygen is a rather efficient oxidant.
