Sticky Nicky - my air-stewardess friend - has just sent me a text to say she got out of Miami in time[1] to miss Hurricane Wilma and is currently in Las Vegas until the hoo-hah dies down in Florida, and she can fly home. She was on Stand-by at Heathrow on Friday when she was called in to cover for someone who went 'ill'[1]. As she'd done so many hours in the air that week they told her she'd be grounded for 48 hours after landing in Miami, right when Wilma was due to hit. So she and a colleague hurridly hired a car and drove as fast as they could out of the area. [1] Ill my arse. Obviously didn't fancy flying to Miami knowing what was about to hit.
