    Why, I'd just love them.

Then sell them down the Dilly once I'd won their trust.

  4. To somewhere that's bloody expensive too! this weekend coming it's 80
quid for a family of four, next weekend it'd 82 quid. Or 26.50/28 quid
    per adult.
Quite. More of an incentive, I'd say. Where's the nearest bus
    shelter...?
Sounds like a bloody good idea. Though 'a year' is a hell of a long
time I suspect for kids like that. But still 'out of trouble for the
next 2 months, we'll take you when it next opens' or something, would
    seem to make more sense.

Has nobody described to you the reasoning behind this idea? Have they
not told you that these kids are seriously socially deprived? Have they
not mentioned how the kids have suffered deep and lasting trauma cos the
don't get taken out anywhere nice like rich kids do? Has nobody told you
that if only poor kids can have some of the benefits that rich kids can
get it makes them different better people?

If they do tell them to **** off with their wishy washy libertarian
bollox coz it don't fucking work.

We had this shit foisted on us fucking years ago, by now there should be
more than enough evidence to prove it doesn't fucking work but the cunts
who want to act as supervisors for the day trips don't ever bother
    telling you this.

  8. Err, I think someone just did. But I don't think they believed
    themselves either.
heh. no, really?! I am shocked.
Well, no - coz it saves them 28 quid, *and* gets them a gold star if
there are fewer rob-jobs that night. Now, the fact that the rob-jobs
commence a-plenty the following evening is beside the point.

  14. Excellent - France is getting its own version of Thatcherism. That'll
teach them for refusing to eat our Beef.
So someone walks up to me in the street and beats the living daylights
out of me for no reason at all and I'm responsible for that? How can I
possibly be responsible for the insane actions of a person unknown to
    me?

I think Wizard's view of being responsible for what you do and thereby
enjoying the upside or downside that follows is a more accurate
    representation of conservatism.
Hey they wrote their constitution, they live by it and keep voting in
people who uphold it no matter what. They are only being responsible for
their actions in voting for idiots.
I'm not sure that's right. I think conservatives do recognise that
environment has a considerable impact on how people develop. They would
probably disagree with you as to whose responsibility it was to create
and maintain an acceptable environment that would nurture responsible
    adults.
I have mixed views on this subject. I think in some cases appropriate
social facilities which provide a supportive environment coupled with
good educational opportunities and all of these run by dedicated and
supportive individuals can be enormously beneficial. They can stop a lot
of kids going off course permanently and can give them insights into
aspects of life that will make them much better people or open doors for
them to allow them to become valuable members of society. I have no
issue about paying my taxes to fund these things provided they are done
    efficiently and are well run.

However the lack of these things or perhaps the existence of poor
quality facilities in no way whatsoever provides an excuse for kids or
teenagers to go round and smash the living daylights out of their
neighbourhood or their neighbours. People who do wrong should suffer
the consequences of a balanced and fair legal system which may put them
somewhere where they are deprived of their liberty but are rehabilitated
or if sufficiently serious just deprived of their liberty. It's a hard
issue to weigh but I think our legal, policing and justice system is in
desperate need of a proper systematic review.

I'm no fan of the hectoring Daily Mail vengeance brigade but neither am
I a fan of a legal system that young / middle aged or old aged thugs /
villains / fraudsters / drug dealers etc stick two fingers up at.
Somewhere between the extremes of locking up everyone and locking up no
one lies an answer that protects society, maintains society's norms yet
permits personal freedom and responsibility while preserving the rights
of the vulnerable. I suppose I can always dream.

As a paid-up member of the BHaLC, I frankly don't much care for the
well-being of theiving little scrotes. I *do* care that they are dealt
with in such a way that they are turned into, if not useful then at least
not positively harmful members of society, and without imposing too much

Sounds like my sort of group.
Look at the bigger picture, you get a group of scroats and one ends up
doing a bit of time, he may go bad, he may not, but the realisation of
what has happened can affect others of the group, some will carry on
as they had been and some will change there habbits.
Yep, works wonders, I applied the same principles to the upbringing of
my daughter as I do with my dogs, she knows right from wrong and is
    polite and well behaved.
