That'll be a non-repairable tyre then

Bloody hell, I only get 6k if I'm lucky. Mind you I do have a lot of
standing starts on my way to work.

I went to Bordeaux and back twice, mainly on Autoroutes and the daily
commute includes 45 miles of Motorway in which time I rarely need to
brake or modify my speed much.

Having said that it was more than a little bald when I'd finished with
    it though...

The Roadrunner on the back of the R80RT is still pretty good after about
    12K.

Reading the thread, obviously one or two do. But I'm with you on this.
My tyres get looked at (well the rear at least) when I adjust the
chain, which isn't that frequently either...

The only time I look at the black hole at the back is when I lube the
chain. If it's low pressure the whole thing goes squirmy. [1]

    Cheers,

    Paul.

[1] And as BBird riders will attest, they're never squirmy.

  8. I've just noticed a screw half embedded in my back tyre. It's in the
middle and the head is about hmm across. I thought the bike felt odd on
the way home yesterday, too. And on the way in this morning. I was
intending to ride to Cornwall tomorrow, so is there a way I can fix this
quickly or shall I call the insurance people as I have puncture cover? Or
where can one get ultra seal?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks. Dave.

It's a bit late to put the ultraseal in now I expect. Any bike tyre place
should be able to plug it though if this in an XR125 it's going to have a
    tube in tyre surely??

  10. Phone call to dealers then? I'm not sure about there being a tube or not, as
I'm fairly new to this and I've left the handbook at home. If I call the
dealers, maybe they can fix it by tomorrow, and I will be able to avoid
claiming against the puncture assistance thing insurance company offer.
    Thanks, Dave.

Almost bound to be a tube type tyre in which case you can try and take the
tyre off yourself and patch or replace the tube. Little different from a
    bicycle in that respect.

If it's a normal tubed tyre you simply need to remove the screw. If
it's not punctured the tube (and presumably it hasn't as the tyre
would be going flat) no further action is required.

  14. Thanks, I don't have the tools though so I think I'm going to take it back to
the dealers, pay them to do it, and maybe the 1st service then as well as it's
    on 430 miles already...

Thank you for your help, though,

    Cheers,

    Dave

  16. Cheers. I weighed up the options: i) ride to dealers, pay to get it
fixed; ii) Use insurance puncture cover to take me to dealers to pay to
get it fixed iii) remove screw and see if I'll have to use insurance
puncture cover to take me to dealers to pay to get it fixed. I chose
option iii. The screw was only about 3 mm in, i couldn't hear any air
coming out so I gobbed on the hole and looked for bubbles, and couldn't
see any, so I'm going to go back and have a look in an hour or so to see
if I'll have to use option ii. Thank you for your help. Looks like I'm
going to have to see my family after all.

    Cheers, Dave

  18. I've checked it and it seems ok. Thanks for you help once again. now I have
a 240 mile run to look forward to tomorrow on a 125 with a top speed of 60
mph if I'm lucky. So i should arrive my boxing day at least. Have a nice
