That would explain the 'fresh oil' warning signs, I guess

Ann & me spent the weekend up near Yosemite to escape the heat in Las
Vegas. Looked like everybody in possession of a ShiteOldBike was out
in force, presumably to get the last few rides in before winter comes.

The majority of ShiteOldBikes ogled seemed to be of Brit origin
(mostly Nortons, by the looks of it), with the odd BMW thrown in - one
of the other guests at the hotel we were staying was one a gorgeous
R60/2 (or so it had been identified by some people at the next table).
And a very nice R65LS whose owner was doing his best to end up in
Lozzo's black tome while he was chasing what looked like an electric
    problem...

But as mentioned, the Brit bikes were a large part of the contingent
and made up about 80% of the ShiteOldBikes on the road. And they're
either _very_ nicely restored or cafe racered and all that. Actually I
don't think I saw one unrestored classic bike on the whole weekend.
Oddly enough, I didn't see _any_ classic Japanese bikes. Which made
the sign quoted above somewhat amusing to my feeble mind after we'd
been overtaken by a bunch of blokes on Commandos...

Oh, and California 120 through Yosemite is rightly rated as a great
biking/driving road. I'd love to take the Laverda up and down that
    road. Well, eventually...

We did SF->LA->Vegas->SF last year, the last leg took in Death Valley
and a night in Mammoth Lakes before going through Yosemite on 120. Bit
of a grind after that to SF but Death Valley and Yosemite were
brilliant, as was the Pacific coast highway, at least down to Pismo
    Beach where we stayed over.

Well he tells us all this stuff about SOB but nothing of meeting Ann again
after... how long? I mean, there are questions to asked, traditional
    questions.
