thanks for suggestions for naming the project and website.

    http://www.tr1ke.homeip.net

there's even a message board where you can make rud^H^H^Hhelpful
suggestions and comments, and read the unfolding story of broken bits,
bent bits, missing bits, and also odd bits which, in the TR1's history,
have been borrowed from other bikes and attached in strange and surprising
    ways.

and a poll about what colour it should be...

    S'okay now.
This is impressive stuff Fluffy. Other than the nibbled piston skirt (1)
what else has been found wrong?

    (1) could be lack of oil but it doesn't look that badly scored or burnt. The
piston can tilt when the bore becomes badly worn, if it is worn (oval) then
    a rebore is in order.

  4. cool.

What the hell happened to that piston?
Black, black and more (hammerite) black.

    Obviously!

Nothing yet. One cam lobe looks a little darker than the others but feels
smooth. Um, I dropped a circlip in the sump. Cam bearings (plain ones) are fine,
not got at the bottom ones yet. Oil pump drive chain seems very loose though.

It they are plain shell mains and show no obvious signs of destruction
you'll need a thing called plastigauge to measure the internal clearance (if
    you didn't already know) http://www.plastigauge.co.uk/howitworks.htm

Using the patented Mavis Bacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, fluffycat
What-ho Fluffy. I've clearly been in la-la land, because this was the
    first I'd heard of this.

Eaton Engineering Services are at your, er... service if needed. Giveme
a shout if you need anything turning / milling etc.
    What a *silly* question. ;^)

    thank you!
if you look on the message board where flook posts spannering
reports you'll see he has struck a problem.
we have this argument going. for me, the one true colour etc, but the owner
of the donor machine thinks it should be clogcow-coloured, and he says the
squeezy rubber Friesian keyfob that i donated to the project is not sufficient.
