That strikes me as cheap

  1. Ebay item 300315042305

Paint's not original, but it's in rather good order, genuine OE exhaust,
and the seller verified it has the tool tray and that the kickstarter
isn't broken. Shame it's missing the grab handle but you can't have
    everything.

It's a bit odd buying a bike on eBay while sitting in a conference in
Sao Paulo, Brazil, I must say. I'll collect it when I get back in 10
    days' time.

  5. I was lucky. It popped up as a recently listed Classified, rather than
an auction, and I was able to check some essential details with the
seller before clicking on 'make an offer'. All this in mid-to-late
afternoon, which is a great time to buy.

It was up for £700, but £650 did the trick, which was nice.

Even better if it's as original as it looks .. ;)

There's one similar for sale near us (oop north, like) with a 2:4 seat,
none standard exhaust and what look like comstar wheels?

    ?1500 ... no offers!!! ... ;)

God knows what else isn't standard, but it doesn't look anywhere near
as tidy as this one either.

That indeed is a bit of a bargain, if it's as nice in the flesh as the
    photos.

But, you already have one of the nicest 400 fours around - what are
you going to do with this one? Apart from turn a profit.

  9. I'll work that out when I get it. It's a slight shame about the respray,
but the rest of it is OK.

Fucking hell. Even if the colour isn't original, that's a nice buy. I'd
take that off your hands, but you'd probably put a markup on it. :)

Really, Um, what would you offer?

Put it this way, I know it's a grand's worth as it stands, Probably
£1400 with a respray and well over £1500 for parts.....

Oh buggery bollox. Let me think about this and I'll get back to you.
What would you be thinking as a sensible price?

Yeahbut I was expecting him to come back with a better offer. Y'know,
    mates rates and all that.

  14. Oh, mates rates are less than that. I'm waiting for Cab to make a
    tentative offer.

Alright, do me a favour. Pick up the bike first and give me the
complete low-down on it (after all, you are on the other side of the
world, atm). Then that'll give me an idea as to what I may be able to
    offer for it, okay?

  16. Sounds good to me. I warn you, though, that if (as I suspect) a lot of
the valuable parts are in really good order, I'll probably break it.

Let's wait and see eh? It'll be a shame to break it, if it's a decent
    runner.

  18. Quite, but one can't be too sentimental. The last 400 Four in that
condition that I broke fetched well over £1500 in parts, and prices have
gone up since then as more stuff has drfited into the 'unobtainable new'
    category.

Ah. What was Sir seeking? Nice OE exhaust in really good condition?[1]
Tool tray?[2] Kickstart with unbroken knuckle?[3] Nice front

(I emailed the seller to check all these items and more, and he
confirmed they were all OK and even sent some pix, which was nice)

    [1] £250
    [2] £25
    [3] £60
    [4] £50
