One of my colleagues got let off with 3 points and 60 quid fixed
penalty for 103 on the motorway on Saturday.

The reason? "You've got a nice car, and the road's pretty quiet."[1].

    Champ wibbled
I thought he was treated pretty harshly (rightly so for someone in his
position) based on me, long ago, being 'done' for 97 and only getting 6
points and a 300 pound fine, despite me already having 3 points on the
licence. Though mine was on M1 and at 2.30am.

Yes - I think that's absolutely the case - I think that because of who
he is, they (rightly IMO) judged that they couldn't let him off
completely, but also - and again of because who he is - they wanted to
give him something fairly light. A 6 week ban probably won't cause him
too much inconvenience and the fine is less than I got for 86mph on
the motorway a few years back.

I got the same a few years ago for 112 racing another Moto Guzzi.

The ban's the same as my North Wales motorcycle escapade - 98 on a single
    carriageway NSL.
