That Michelin tyre you recommended for the faux WR250 Yamaha is great.
Went for my first long(ish) off road ride the other day and was able
to tackle tracks I wouldn't have attempted before. TBF this is partly
because the Yam is the most competent off-road bike I have ever ridden
even though it is 10 years old. Although it appears not to be a
genuine WR with the heavy flywheels it is amazingly tractable for a
    stroker.

Now trying to find a guide fromn the local Moto Club to show me some
    other good forest roads.

In the absence of any better advice, what it says in the Clymer
    manual: 15 psi.
Never leaves France, but if you are ever in the area.
Not tremendously good weather at the moment actually but there are
other compensations. Not too hot for riding the bike or battling with
    the brambles.

Oh, forgot to ask: especially as you referred to flywheels, what
exactly did you mean by tractable? 'cos IME stroker singles are a lot
more tractable than four-strokes, from the POV of 'don't snatch', but
    simply lack torque.

The only other two-stroke single I have ridden much was my old disc-
valve Rotax powered 250 SWM. That needed to be revved hard to produce
much usable power so I suppose I mean lacking in torque. TBF the YZ is
geared really, really low. This makes it seem as if it will never
stall. There is also no obvious sudden increase in power as the revs
hit a certain point like on my power valve GFR.

Anyway, it is much easier to ride than I thought it would be.
