Cheers - shame we're going into the non-hanging-off time of year; not
something I'm used to doing but I'm sure I should.

  3. Is it religous reasons? Otherwise you are safer hanging off when the
road is wet than leaning the bike. It's the time of year to hang off
more; that way you keep more of the tread of the tyre on the road as
    you corner.

That's a good thing in the wet.

    I did know, actually
The bike basically "doesn't work" unless you ride it with either
enought speed ( > 80mph, really) or enough acceleration to lift the
weight off your arms. It's awful round town.
You're probably used to the extra leverage you get with high, wide
bars. With sports bikes, you need to use your body as much as your
arms to turn it. Another reason why it probably made your arms ache.
    Sure :)
She's learnt well, that girl. She used to be on the receiving end of
    such windups.

[1] That may either be a question or an answer, your choice.[2]
[2] BTW it was good seeing you again.

Thanks for the correction. It just feels better on a nice, warm, dry
day. I'll try to keep it in mind.

Better to keep *less* of the tread on the road when it's wet.
Unless you're still riding off the edge of the tread,
hanging off is a bad idea.

  11. Assuming the laws of physics suddenly change after 26 years riding on
the road, you may be right.

I wish you well in you attempt to scrape your footpegs on every diesel
covered wet roundabout in the wet.

I'd really love to hear the logic behind that. I'm sure Rossi & friends
would too, as they all appear to be doing it wrong.

What fucking planet are you on? It can't be the same one as me. I've
heard some completely looney ideas before, but that's well off.

I think he's trying to say that narrow tyres perform better than wide
ones in the wet and therefore you have more grip if less of the tyre
is in contact with the road.

    It's an interesting idea.

It might have some basis if the water was so heavy that there was a
chance of aquaplaning. But other than that, I say FOO!
