You can always buy a thermostatic mixer for your bath if you want one; I
see no need for legislation. This was specifically about Baths and not
    showers.

In any case if you've got a thick cast-iron bath you need to have the taps
running scalding hot in winter if you plan on having a bath in anything
    other than lukewarm water

Not exactly common in modern builds though, are they?

No, but not unheard of either, especially if you're going for the retro
    roll-top look

  5. In all the houses I've had where I've done a rebuild or built from
square one I've always put thermostatic controllers on the showers but
    never on a bath.
The last place had a two berth Jacuzzi en suite. It took 80+ gallons to
fill it over the jets etc. You needed the hot water *hot* so by the time
you added the cold, the bath was full before the hot tank was empty.

answer a) because we don't have mains-supplied hot water?

    answer b) you can have such a thing - it's called a "power shower"[1]
    - I have one; it rocks.

[1] this is *not* the same as an "electric shower".

And... I often fall asleep in the bath. When I wake up shivering I want
hot water, not luke warm stuff. It's all a plot to make me piss in the
bath to warm myself up and hence smell like Steve Auvache.

    Aye, they do that.[1]
Yeah, whilst staying with family over Xmas I got to use the new,
recently installed, electric shower. It was crap in comparison
    to mine.

[1] When I had the bathroom done, the subject got onto which shower
I wanted fitted. I told them to just fit "the most powerful one
they did. One that can pin you to the back wall, if possible."

we've one of each - our shower room in the (2nd-floor) loft conversion
needed to have a power shower to get the water up there, and we have
an "ordinary", but fairly decent Miras electric shower in the 1st
    floor bathroom.

The electric shower is hot enough, but you sort of have to move around
a bit to get wet enough under it.

You could quite easily drown in the power shower.

  14. I plumbed my old place with one, a lot less fuss but to do it as a job
for some one else, you have to be accredited a bit like 'Corgy' gas
installers and that costs loads of money.

Heh. Showers are meant to be quick. It defeats the object
if it takes five minutes to get your hair wet.

  16. The Jacuzzi had an inline 3kw heater to keep the water hot. You could
come out looking like an old wet walnut.

For God's sake. Hot water is already dangerous enough, without pressurising
    it.
