So it's worth regulation then to save one kid? If you truely believe
    that you're a fucking moron.

What value can you put on a child's life, eh? Or their happiness? Or their
ability to be able to dance at the school disco?

How much is that worth? How much? If we have to implement ukp2 billion
worth of legislation just to ensure that a _single_ child, who we'll select
at random, is never hurt then it will be worth every single penny!

In fact it will be worth more - I say we spend 2.5 billion. We're going to
get this kid fucking everything ... personal lollipop lady to travel with
him at all times, armoured car with police escort to go to school, fully
trained security team, padded clothes in case they fall over, the _fucking
    works_!

OK, we'll all have to pay a bit more, but we will sleep sound in our beds
knowing that one kid is not going to be hurt ...

.... until they get to 17, when they can go **** themselves and we'll get a
    new kid to look after.

Think of the child! WILL NOBODY THINK OF THE CHILD???

It's actually a very sneaky legislation, pushing up the costs of house
building (in the private sector), whilst lowering the costs of hospitals
treating scalds (in the public sector).

I didn't read the Des post in question, but I can recognise humour when I
    see it.

Mainly because Flash posted it ... see?

There's another pattern; people named Ian.

I wonder if it's part of a bigger picture type thing.

Building houses must be a pretty dangerous job, so if house prices go up and
up then fewer houses will be built, meaning less builders working, meaning
    less injuries on building sites.

I've known a few unemployed builders and they tend to sit on their arses,
watching TV and drinking lager right up to the point where their heart goes,
with a small mushroom cloud. So that's next to no cost for the NHS, no
pension benefits to pay out and £32.50 (taken out of their dole) to have
them burnt at the local crem.

If my suspicions are correct the next thing we'll see is a big government
campaign to encourage people to train as builders.

But formal training costs the government money, they'd be better to use
subversive techniques, say by putting shows about people who've quit
work to restore properties onto the television....

    That'd start the rot.

No, no, no - it's too late now to pretend you've got a sense of humour.

  19. Canterbury Hospital boiled an old man in a bath where they left the hot
tap running. He took several days for him to die. It wasn't till they
sent him to a burns hospital that the police were sent for.
