benefit. Fortunately, in Texas, we also have a law that makes it illegal
Yup, Sugar Land (outside Houston) fired the Sergeant of the night
watch a couple of years ago for telling the guys on his watch that
he would buy the most prolific ticket writer a steak dinner. Two
days later, he was on the street after they started griping about it.

Of course, we just fired the police chief here also. He got drunk
and got in his city car and rear-ended two other cars here on highway
    6. Several people did go to the hospital for back injuries. He was
only wearing his boxer shorts and a tshirt ! And, somehow all the
video tapes were turned off and the local hospital forgot to do an
alcohol test on him - but they did do a drug test on him. Yet, the
mayor did force him to resign. And, now he is getting ready to sue
Sugar Land to get his job back !

'Scuse please.. apologies to both IceMan and Lynn.. Just can't resist..
Isn't Sugarland the heart of the Tom DeLay district.. Why should anyone
there be surprised at corruption at all levels in government and law
enforcement in that area.. Just take a close look at the continued support
of one of the most ruthless and corrupt politicians of our time.. Take heart
residents of that area.. A group of veterans and bikers will be in your area
in the near future .. Our intent is to "liberate" you from the clutches of
those corrupt LEO's and Politicians.. LOL.. Your can show your support by
    participating.

Uh, Tom DeLay is my guy ! He will have to go a long ways
before I turn on him. About 10 years ago he got my Japanese
born wife a USA passport after the US passport folks in
downtown Houston turned us down and told us to get out of
their office. They were at the point of calling for security when
I gave up on that venue.

Did I mention that my wife is the daughter of a US Army medic
who took his family with him to Japan in the middle 50s to serve
our country ? Since he was in the service they never issued her
an USA birth certificate, just a piece of paper saying that she
was born at Camp Jama in 1958. The US passport folks refused
that piece of paper and said that it was bogus. I called Tom
Delay and he personally called the passport agency director and
got my wife a 6 month passport so I could take her on a business
trip with me to Japan. Tom DeLay gets things done and he does
represent me, his constituent ! BTW, he also got my wife a
USA birth certificate when we got back from Japan so that she
now has a 10 year USA passport - the best document in the
world when you are outside the USA.

In that case.. quit bitchin' about all the problems in your area.. Hell
Lynn.. you got what you voted for.. Problem is that the rest of us who would
like equal representation, haven't.. Yep.. ol' Tom gets a lot done, by hook
or crook.. I don't share your appreciation of the corrupt son of a bitch..

LOL.. I don't think Tom DeLay has ever been much of anything .. If all our

Uh, most of my latest griping is that I want US 59 (maybe future I69)
extended past the Brazos river with 4+1+3 lanes on both sides. My
man Tom DeLay has been working on it and the construction (with
four (4) new bridges across the Brazos river !) starts this August !

Oh, another gripe is that I may want to build a new home on the old
prison land west of highway 6 between US 59 and A90 (a developer
just bought the land from the state of Texas for $38E6). But, the
dadgum Army Corp of Engineers seems to have just designated this
a "wetlands" area. My buddy Tom DeLay wants to cut the Army
Corps of Engineers funding if they dont have anything better to do
than walk around an old corn field with a ditch in the middle of it and
    say "wetlands".

Enjoy, Lynn.. while you can.. When you play with the dogs, you are subject
to get fleas.. I do not wish you well in your support of this corrupt
politician.. No matter how many "personal" favors he has done for you..
BTW.. my wife was a mexican national when we married.. We got her green card
and citizenship within the system.. We've been married going on fifteen
years and she became an American about two years ago.. See what I mean..??

Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour? :)
More correctly, I think, there is a minimum *reaction time* for a
driver. I absolutely won't dispute that the safe speed for an unknown
country road is lower than it is for a flat, straight stretch of
highway. Part of the problem is that speeds aren't posted with respect
to safety; both the roads mentioned could actually be posted as a 55mph
limit where the straight highway would probably be safer at 100mph than
the country road is at the posted limit.
Sure, but I was painting a realistic picture of actual drivers under
normal conditions. If everyone is going X, the problem is people going
X +/- Y, yet the law really only punishes those going faster, not slower.
My government is of the people, by the people, for the people. If the
people don't want something and the government tries to impose it, those
in power had best watch their backs. These United States were founded
by a bloody revolution; let's hope it doesn't take another one to return
    the government to the people.
Why? You shouldn't have to look over your shoulder for oppressors as
you just try to live your life. I argue that the best way to not be
stopped for speeding is to remove the law from the books.
That all seems reasonable. Of course, I would note that speed and
residential areas don't mix, so I would wonder why city planners put
houses near fast roads, or why the people bought them. Tickets are only
a temporary fix in that situation, as the underlying safety issue is
    never addressed.

    Doc O'Leary, Feb 3, 2004
  11. Oh yeah... and that arbitrary application of law doesn't breed
cynicism and hatred for Johnny LEO.

Here's a shocking idea... make and enforce laws that are actual
crimes. Like running a red light, traveling at extreme velocities in a
fashion than endangers other drivers. Instead of enforcing silly laws
that are a mere technicality. Like going 5mph over on a road with an
artificially low speed limit set during the oil crisis.

Until then any officer on traffic duty is a chickenshit. They know
what they're doing is wrong and amounts to revenue generation. They're
just too spineless to do anything about it which might endanger their
    paycheck.

Uh, just two personal duties to this date. BTW, my wife is and was
a US citizen. She just happens to be an army brat who was conceived
here in Texas and born in Japan (almost happened on the ship going
there !). The real problem was that her paperwork was totally screwed
up and Tom DeLay was kind enough to get his staff to sort it all out.
It took about 2 years ! It was really complicated since her original
birth certificate was destroyed when the USA embassy in Tokyo
burned down in the 70s. They do not like to give out those USA
birth certificates at all, especially a new one from scratch ! And, I
have never donated a penny to Tom DeLay's campaign ! But, I
have voted for him many times.

Good to hear that your wife's paperwork is all sorted out too ! My
son is engaged to a very nice young lady who has a dual USA-Mexico
citizenship and is now attending the University of Texas.

BTW, you might be interested in the website of one of our local
editorialists at http://www.brazosriver.com/ . She takes Tom Delay
    to task all the time.

    Thanks,

It is not by co-incidence that we are coming to that area.. I also belong to
a veterans group that would like to work with TMRA II in establishing some
control of our political system back to the hands of the "people".. We have
been invited by some other groups in your area to assist them in restoring
that control back where it belongs.. So .. "we" are not solely the ones who
target Tom DeLay.. Although, I believe that is way past due.. If you care to
discuss or pursue this discussion furthur, I'd be happy to post an article,
by me that would open another thread ..

I am still "chafing" over the support that Charles is giving to the
Whataburger corporation.. He was seen making a major purchase of (would you
believe) one jalapeno burger, fries and a small soda, in one of their
establishments.. The source of the report is questionable and that is the
only reason that I have not pursued the appropriate action to "sanction"
him.. Perhaps a committee should be assembled, at once, to investigate this
serious allegation.. Please advise me at the earliest, as to your
    concurrence ..
