Texas troopers lying about motorcycle speeds?

You are technically correct, and in the distant past would be actually
correct...but these days with insuffient tax revenue to cover costs, and the
US no longer able to borrow at will by issuing bonds to there nations
etc.... that money has vaporized...in just the last year or so...and its not
coming back. The jobs and factories are going to china at warp speed as
our base of human capitol disipates from disuse (skills can dissapear from
disues in just 2 to 5 years).

No income...no taxes.... no bottomless pit of money....so the court has to
**fund itself from fines and property seizures. and that works for a
while. Until the tax base dies completely due to 100k guys now flipping
burgers for minimum wage and not paying taxes, but getting a tax
credit...and 50 million baby boomers retiring, and no longer paying income
taxes but instead drawing ssi etc.

Then....the courts and police must be self supporting by means of stalking
drivers... when it costs more to collect the fine that its worth, they will
be forced predominantly to let the driver off the hook.

These days in SF, many cant or wont pay the fines....the city collects only
16% of those, they net close to zero after the staffing and collection
costs.... same with much of the rest of the taxation system. Its in
crisis.... with each job that goes to china and with each overweight
burocrat hired or going on retirment after 20 years service... the disater
worsens. They cant collect you see. No money... production is declining
regardless the hot air published in the press to spin the real issues.

The cant fake the jobs though. and they lie about self employment..

So you can beat the rip off if you dont have seizable property...thats why
pimping and drug running is so popular with some SF city officals as a side
line...the parking enforcement offical for instance who got arrested in a
    crack house last week.

He will retire at $130,000 a year...with life time health care, paid for by
the net property taxes of over 50 home owners, who cant afford health care
    themselves.

that has killed the bottom pit of tax funding that you have reffered to.

SF has stated publicly that its putting an additional 40,000 ticket per
month quota on meter maids strictly because it needs the money...for a while
there were cops staked out many obsscure interesection looking for targets,
not stopping dead at every stop sign especially in deserted areas where it
was common due to no traffic at all... they gave that up I see.... not
    enough money in it.

So Brownse is entirely correct, not only can you beat them in court but you
must for long term surival...we are just now seeing the tip of a much
    nastier future.

Wisconsin has just passed a law giving tax breaks to people who donate
organs... in violation of all ethics designed to prevent needy people from
giving up organs for cash or other advantages....

Soon maybe there will be blood extraction stations in traffic court rooms...
cant or wont pay...you give em 3 pints of blood. What else can they do....
in states across the US felons are being released from prison because the
state cannot afford food for them. In Calif 10 years ago burglars and
dope pushers were not arrested but just given tickets...why? No money to
run the jail or feed the prisoners.

So now the state is cutting funds to the cities, and the cities in order to
survive are having to go after the citizens.

This mess is just now beginning...we will a surge created hot air this
year...but the near and long term prospects rest on these basics. Its not
going to be pretty. If you have a cushy job now, save your money...

you will need it when you get laid off or cut back. We in the US have hit
the wall on taxation limits 15 years ago...but have since doubled the size
of govt and driven off industry.... we will try to recover in the face of
China's production at 1/5 our cost despite US govt spin that its only a 30%
    advantage.

and that attempted recovery will be without foreign investment...which is
going to china now by an 80/20 ratio.

Those figures were reversed just 3 years ago... this trend is in the
    exponential part of the curve.

    Save your money.
    Don't feed the beast.

Dont confuse those sorts of anomallys and also as I did, assume things as
they were 30 years ago when judges could afford to be fair... thats rare
now...desperation for income has set in....and its all about the money, its
not about justice at all anymore except in rare cases and with a few good
LEO's who refuse to participate in this fraud.

From what I understand lately from Brownse...you should have instantly and
very politely requested a transcript...very pointedly, and so that the court
reporter took the notes, then asked the judge why you are not allowed to
cross examine the witness against you.

You would have him by the ass on appeal, he could loose his job over that,
the news paper would find the story interesting as well.

This is no longer the good ol daze...what you dont actively protect is at
risk to a govt going in the red at light speed, with no more foreign money
interested in buying US bonds...and the property tax maxed out with home
owners giving everything but bare food money to the banks for mortgages as
    they face downsizing at work.

Self employment btw used to pay 3x a going wage... no its closer to the same
as a going wage with benefits..when you can find work...so the self employed
argument the fed govt is trying to float is bogus too.....now they are
trying tax illegal aliens...that will simply run up costs for those hiring
    them.

I suggest one doesnt feed into the mess... keep your money, and tell them
you wont support the rip off or you loose your integrity and backbone in
    life....thats fatal long term.

Well your driving record is looked up by the ticketing officer...Ive had
them go back to the car and check each time and comment on my record...then
ask me questions to see if I would lie....they know alright... if they see
tickets issues but no fine its very clear to them who is who.

You've taken 10 MSF classes and came away with the understanding that the point
of the class was to learn how to maneuver your bike around a parking lot at
    speeds under 20 mph?

    Whew.

Did you not figure that out until the tenth class, or do you just enjoy wasting
    your money?

Tim (taught 170 or so MRC/BRC/ERC classes and *never* once considered in my

Traffic enforcement is a necessary evil that exists .. Occasionally a casual
traffic stop will yield the dividend of a felony apprehension.. That is an
exception.. The traffic courts in any given jurisdiction are largely filled
by decent citizens who were rushing a bit to get to work or the return to
home.. Some have very interesting explanations of the event.. Many endure
extreme hardship when their fines are assessed.. The traffic courts in
metropolitan areas are crowded and the assembly line collection of the fines
consider very little else.. Whenever an issueing officer testifies and gives
obviously false testimony, I have more contempt for him than for the
defendent.. This is not to say that each defendent is innocent of any
infraction.. Not in the least.. That is to say that when a LEO takes that
witness stand and lies, he is no longer fulfilling his obligation as an LEO
and is actually guilty of a form of legalized highway robbery..

since we are completely off topic and in this direction.. What have you
contributed to make a difference and change this system of corruption that
you describe and seem so averse to. ?? If you contribute to these newsgroups
and read them regularly, you have been appealed to for support of many who
would take the measures to make changes in this system.. I don't remember
seeing you in any of the meetings held in various parts of our state.. Your

the state of our nation.. Would you do your part in correcting the system ??

I never said they weren't useful skills. They also save me on my
insurance. I especially like the new curriculum (#4 is a goodern). But
how much of that transfers to anything other than parking lot and (very)
slow speed commuter skills (where most speeds are faster and traffic is
    involved)?

I wont discuss them here but I have done a lot to reverse this mess, made
headlines, and in the end was part of the effort that got the IRS
investigated by congress in the late 90's and the IRS defanged slightly.
...and a few other major issues in other areas that made 60 minutes for
    instance.

Sadly, imo, none of that will turn the larger ship around...we are in a
world economy now, and live by exchanging goods with other nations...and
have armed our primary and most well populated competitor, China, with the
technology to take over world markets or our goods to a very large
degree....that is not a reversible situation short of genocide and while
that is being worked on for what all reasons I dont choose to fathom, I
    don't approve of it.

Better one should starve to death honestly.

I do not join groups in these political areas... I have spoken before some
of them though, including a few right wing organizations (which btw are
infiltrated to the core by the oposition) , and testified before congress on
various issues (not taxes but other issues),

I suggest people look over the microcosm and macrocosm of the life of all
living things and their ecosystems. The Kontragrief ( or Kontragiev)
curves plotting the life cycle of nations and Rivi Batra's analysis of the
human evolution aspects behind these cycles. This nation has gone soft at
its peak as all living organisms do, lived on its reserves for a generation,
and is now suffering the decay and corruption inherent in these late stage
    cycles.

Individuals however have options. But the larger organism follows the life
cycle curve as inevitably as you and I are doing.

I investigate a few of those offers from time to time...usually they are a
mess, and operating on a limiting range of notions. and very often with
some hidden agenda such as to convert everyone to thier flavor of religion
du Jour. ymmv. I have been called to speak before a few, one time with a
few senators and some nice folk from the NRA at the head table...I ended up
speaking from notes I wrote on the back of an envelop as the others
presented and not doing my prepared speech. 45 minutes, I got a standing
ovation. (that was a while back) At age 63 and with much experience inside
corporations and being a student of human nature and what it takes...I look
for the over riding issues...most people are blind to those even as they
spot some of the hidden players.

I avoid those like the plague... but I support the intent to eliminate
corruption behind some of them. You would find a study of the black
panthers relevant. they had been infiltrated by the FBI that created
internal dissent until the panthers murdered each other...two white guys no
less..finally in thier 80's and retired they spilled the beans on 60 minutes
a few years ago. Whats going on today is light years beyond cointelpro
etc...and Dr Delgado's work, into ranges beyond what one could even dream.

The mess is about 40 years ahead of most people wildest imaginations, and
different than what some of the more agitated folk think are the
issues...they have disinformation, and it breeds confusion, and are focused
on incidentals....I just do my thing alone.

Not much will happen unless the people at the grass roots average person
level gets so damaged that they revolt en mass... that happens in all cases
with govts gone corrupt... after the people are almost beat to death...until
then, nothing of substance happens, the incubation for corrective measures
    is not complete.

The people are not as clueless as one might imagine, but only act when there
is no other option. thats historically the case. So expose in the end
works. Prior to that are special interests yaking from various righteous
and not so righeous agendas... it makes me physically ill in so many cases I
head off for sushi and a saporo draft.

    Your
    ??

I won't write you a book here...I'm not that bright either, but I do notice
the functional systemic issues I think others miss.

An analogy might be a man that is now 75, a drunken abuser, with liver
problems... and a flabby ass, and no career..with brain damage from the
hooch... rehabilitation looks possible... but it isn't. People efforting on
that level are wasting thier time...one wants to talk to his grand kids...or
better write the book that will change their yet to be born childrens lives.

    that can be done alone.
And it always has been done alone most effectively.

that 75 year old drunks life.... as all lives, will have to cycle though the
dirt for a long while... then new life will take its place and there may or
may not be advance from that...but struggling for correction is misdirected
in many cases... and demonstrates its own error that way.

None the less...stalling actions are valuable as well. All of life is
valuable in some way in the end...even the corrupt..its corruption alone
that fosters the drive to transcend it.

One should imho pursue other options, which I do, and that involves
primarily curing my own laundry list of human frailties and error.... and in
that, those I associate with gain some advantage in some cases ... and at
some of my speaking engagements (not to radical groups either or on radical
subjects but on a broad range of subjects often humorous... taking this mess
seriously is counter productive imho.)...and that in my view is the way to
produce advance. Not necessarily addressing the actual frauds, those are
symptomatic of a deeper range of end cycle phenomena. An unstoppable end
cycle phenomena, the liver you see is hard as a rock already.. the arteries
are solidified... the nose is all red and puffy... its over for that guy.
Best one have a sense of humor about it.

The problem started 4 generations before he was born... the solutions will
happen by similar mechanisms and manifest in some other way that his fat ass
becoming re-invogorated...that isnt going to happen as sad as all concerned
    might be about all that.

Change is not going to be driven from outside forces on the rest of the
culture...imho. But by seeding evolutionary insights into the culture...and
those seldom appear to be relevant to the tangible issues... and do not
affect the host of 75 year old drunks...but instead the understructures of
    humanity.

That foments some change, but mostly it foments evolution of the
species...and that goes on regardless and has been accurately predicted a
few times as you are no doubt fully aware, with advice to relax and
enjoy.... but here you are fighting.

Look do it for sport if you must.... seriousness on the issue is trying to
move back the tide.... its a mistake.

Your mileage may vary...as it should.

Most of the people I know who have gotten tickets really were breaking
the law. Sometimes the LEO overstates the violation, though more often
they'll give the offender a break (e.g., saying he was going 80 instead
    of the actual 95).

If speed enforcement truly was a pure revenue tool, it might make sense
to fight evey ticket. The truth probably lies somewhere in between.
There is an actual need for speed enforcement. I've spoken to many fast
riders about a given stretch of road, who will tell you they are riding
within safe limits. If you ask them questions about where certain
driveways and other hazards are, they often haven't a clue. As is often
pointed out, most people will rate themselves as better than average
drivers. They can't all be right.

So, consider that there is a legit need for speed enforcement. If
everyone who gets a speeding ticket fights it, does the need for
enforecement go away? No, it just costs more. In the extreme case, it
would take more manpower to acheive a certain level of speed compliance,
since LEO's would each spend a greater percentage of time in court.
Make no mistake, public pressure on elected officials would call for
effective enforcement even as it does now. A likely outcome is
directing more tax dollars at hiring the additional manpower it would
take to acheive this. In the end, your advice above could serve only to
make the speed enforcement the public demands more expensive.

All the above said, I acknowledge that people get stopped for things
they didn't do. It hasn't happened to me personally; I'm always guilty
as charged. In fact, I'm guilty every day and rarely get caught at it.
It's hard to bitch when I do.

This, rather than the idea of making speed enforcement more costly, seems
like the best argument for fighting bogus tickets. You'd like to think
that department stats would be able to measure who is spending the most
time in court and what kind of conviction rates they acheive. Could shed
light on who is writing bad tickets.

In some of these jurisdictions that we are discussing, there is no interest
in whether it is a bad ticket or a good one.. I'm told that the city of
Grandview sends one officer to a special school to improve his skills in
writing tickets and operating the speed detection equipment.. Dismissals in

  18. I think many, many people who get ticketed for speeding
say they were going slower than the number on the

Rolling it back into their system. More LEO's means higher grades for
those managing them, higher budgets for equipment, more support staff,
