Is it just me or what?

How do other folks with decent bikes find it when they test ride some shite
old thing for someone? Are you able to detach yourself from what you're
used to with your own bike? Or are you like me and think "EUWWWWWWWW, My
God, is it meant to be this awful? Is there something wrong with it?"

Test rode a GSX600F last night for a girl who's doing her test next month.
It was surprisingly pokey (ish), but by god did it feel awful compared to my
little beauties. Gave SO the job of running it from here up to
Farnborough - he thought it was brill - much better than his XJ.

PS Thanks for the instant advice, Loz - she's dead chuffed with it.

    :)

    Beelzebub says...
I generally tend to test ride bikes that are better than what I
currently own with a view to buying them. Having said that, I haven't
test ridden any one of the last 9 bikes I've bought.
I told her to avoid it cos they're all shit :)

I feel that I'm pretty spoilt with the R6 and ZX9R, so anything else feels
crap. Shame my appalling riding these days doesn't do my bikes any
    justice - ho hum...

  5. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Beelzebub amazed us all with this pearl of
    wisdom:
It's not crap, so much as you having to adapt your riding to suit the
machine. If it's wallowing you can describe the suspention as "soft and
comfy", if it gets blown about by the wind you can say "it will suit a
heavy rider so it should go really well with you on it" If it slides
everywhere you could say "it's very responsive" yada yada...
