Just been on to one of the local shops to arrange a test ride and was told
that it was £30. This will be knocked off the purchase price but not
refundable if I don't buy. Any one heard of this before?

    Name and shame.

Never and if anybody cares to try this on me when I go out shopping I
shall be loudly and publicly taking thousands of pounds worth of
    business elsewhere.

Stuff that, I would be skint if I had payed for all the test rides I had
    been on.

TBH I think it's fair. I often have test rides for fun.

I take test just to try different bike out, so yeah I suppose it would be
fair.... but I liked my free jaunts and £30 is a bit steep, £5 maybe?

Sorry about the above post, I had just woken up and on reflection the
content barely resembled English so I will try again:

I take various test rides so as to gain a little experience of different
bikes, so I suppose a small fee of around £5 would be fair but £30 seems a
    little expensive.

Is that vaguely understandable and a little less Sir Tony?

You want to be known as "Little Lesser Tony"?

I suppose he reckon's it'd be better than "that useless cripple with
    the pink bike".

Or simply, as I believe most people think, "that useless cripple."

You seem to have omitted the "gobshite" qualifier.

    Hey Ken.
Nope, never been charged for a test ride, but I usually end up buying if I
test ride from Acklams (last 3 bikes bought from there). The York m/c shops
don't charge either, we've had a few test rides from there.
