This item is listed, brand new, boxed and unused, on David Silver's own
site for ukp79. Now OK, there's VAT, post and packing to add to that,
but already the bidding has gone over the ex-VAT price and I'm wondering
whether some berk will actually bid as high as ukp120. And P&P will have
    to be added anyway.

After all, there are three days to go on the auction.....

Maybe it's the deluxe version with built-in commode?

  3. That's actually funnier than Tone-deaf's quips. Though that's not hard,
    admittedly.

I hope so - I expended a huge amount of creative effort in constructing
that comment, including numerous rewrites. I still can't help thinking
that it's in some way derivative, although I can't for the life of me
    place the source.

Poor old Tone is obviously having a hard time, but his attitude
clearly doesn't help, and there's no need to take it out on the rest of
    the world.

  5. Yeah, but he's so *funny* the way he jumps up and down and covers the
monitor with froth from his mouth.

You have to wonder....I've been quietly collecting Teng Tools for the
last year or so....and doing quite well - spanner sets that Halfrauds
sell for 50 quid for about 20, 25 quid. Which is nice.

One thing I wanted was a good Torque wrench and recently one came up,
with a day to go it was at 30 quid with no bids - list being 49, so I
put it on my watch list and waited. And then some dickweed started a
bidding war with another person who surely needs watering once a day
and it finally went for 55. WTF?

  8. 81quid15 ATM, plus a fiver postage.

and just BTW... to anyone posting ebay links... you only need the item
    number, e.g.:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2431642371

in the above case. do it on it's own line and it won't wrap, and break the
    link.

  10. That's a nice idea. I think I'll look for some decent tools too. Not
because I need them, but because I'm a bit of a tool junkie.
The bidding on this seat is now up to ukp87, and Dave Silver's price for
a new one, including VAT, is just shy of ukp95.

You are aware of what TOG's ebay nick is, aren't you? :)

When the original ad says where it was bought, thereby giving you a
golden opportunity to check the price, and also adds that it isn't
even a genuine component, simply bidding blindly is stupidity IMHO.

I wonder if he'll be as intolerant once
Who knows? He might also share your inability to think things
    through....

Many people really aren't comfortable with computers and/or ebay. It doesn't
mean they are stupid, just finding their feet. In any event being stupid
isn't a sin and something we've all been at one time or another, you
    included.
Well, lets hope you learn some tolerance and an ability to think things
    through beyond the very obvious.

  16. If you care for him so much, why not notify him and tell him he's being
    silly?

Seriously. Or do you think that he should pay for his own mistakes?

I'm ambivolent about the guy. What he decides to bid is up to him, he'll get
more confident and learn, just like we all do. I'm sure that he'll be happy
about winning his bid (if he does win) and I have no reason to interfere.
We all pay for our mistakes, one way or another, hopefully it's not too
expensive a lesson along the way. I've paid over the odds for things in the
past, usually by being too enthusiastic. I've also lost things by being too
    cautious.

I've no idea what IRTA means.

    (from Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)
    ambivalent adjective
having two opposing feelings at the same time, or being uncertain about how
    you feel:

OK, I misspelt the word. It's probably not the right word anyway - I am
unconcerned about the guy bidding. What point are you trying to make, you've
    lost me.
