yeah, but I can get a new, larger, and most imortantly un-slept-in-by-
you tent for only a tenner or so more than you want for yours.

I used my own tent (for maybe the third time ever) at the EOSM - it's
horribly small, so I thought I'd buy a bigger one for Chimay.
that's jolly decent of you - if it's really no bother, then I'll take
    you up on your offer.

known Bonwick for a quite a while.

As this must be almost the end of the thread I'll chip in again:

    www.khyam.co.uk/product_tent.asp?category=Khyam%20QE&type=Autotouring/Festival

It packs to the same size as a Highlander, you may have seen my version
of that is use. It just weighs in at 10kg rather than the 5 of the
smaller unit. You are not hiking with it so WGAF. There is a lot to be
said for having a space with standing head height and enough room to
stash gear and not work round it to get into bed. Even more to be said
for a tent you can have free standing in a minute. My Highlander has
lasted over 7 years regular use now and was still good for an
    Elefantentreffen.

I've got the previous version of the Longleat too, an 8 man, now 6 years
old. Build quality of all is excellent.

The big one would make a decent Winter Rally living quarters
    akcherly....

Darsy could have my Highlander if he wanted one. But I see they have the
2008 Freelanders for £150!! and not far from the Outdoor Megastore who
have the 2009 for £189. Cheers.

    I admit I'm a bit of a Khyam fan.

When we started motorbike camping (as a family, on two bikes) we had
some unbranded big dome and whilst it was very good from a weight /
space POV it was *way* too hot in this sort of weather. In fact as
soon as the sun came up you had to get out of it. At the same rally
were a couple in a Khyam RigiDome L and they were happily sitting in
the shade with all 3 (huge) sides rolled up but with the fly-mesh in
place (so weren't playing wasp tennis like the rest of us). From that
we got a Squire D10 trailer to go behind my R100RT and the Rigidome XL
and have had several forthright long touring holidays in it, moving
every couple of days or so. Being England it can rain fairly
constantly so having something big enough for three people to live in
it pretty nice. It also means we can put the trailer (then bikes)
inside till the last second when we are breaking camp so keep
    everything dry.

For the long weekend trips we have the McKinley (now called "The
Biker' it seems) and for an overnight stop an Igloo.

We tried a Highlander at a weekend camp but it was a bit too small for
two and their gear and with only one door lacked the through
ventilation of the Igloo (and that's handy if you want to sleep off a
    liquid lunch). ;-)

We also still have a big cotton 5 berth frame tent that we might
return to when we retire and a Campus (I believe a sub division of
Khyam) Sherpa 4 that has a big enough awning to take the tandem and
the tent in turn will go in the BOB Yak trailer.

I wish I could tow the Rapido Confortmatic folding caravan behind the
RT, hmmm, proper beds ... ;-)

you'll be sleeping in the porch of our tent.
