Despite TOG's sage advice I decided that the Guzzi outfit had to go on Ebay - "if it were done 'tis better it were done quickly". Only sold a bike once before on it so not great experience. I set a starting price designed to exclude chancers and a reserve so as to not just give away a machine which I really would keep if I could justify it. Anyway, does 52 watchers mean I will have a last minute flurry of bids (0 at present,) or are they just literally keeping an eye on it to see how much it goes for (if it does)? -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Moto Guzzi Mille GT/Squire RS3 Gilera Nordwest | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------+
This is yours, I presume: 140000703030 Interestingly, I've now got 58 people watching the Morini. At least half will be ukrm-ers, fancying a giggle. Lots will be people waiting to see what it makes, or contemplating a low bid if nobody else seems interested. I'd be bloody surprised if, with 50+ watchers, you (or I!) don't get a bid, though.
Despite TOG's sage advice I decided that the Guzzi outfit had to go on Number of watchers suddenly goes up exponentially...
The very same. I didn't post a link or item number, so am surprised if anyone took the trouble of looking it up. Not a time consuming task I suppose though given the number of sidecars featuring on Ebay. Oh, well, I shall have to contain myself for the time being. BTW, following your permission, I mailed the link to your more in 1 to the 'ATG' editor. No response as yet. A fair number of the membership would probably explode in apoplexy, but I suspect a lot of the old guard would find parts of it very amusing and a refreshing change from the rose-tinted spectacle stuff that sometimes appears lately. It will be very interesting to see how the new 1200 Corsaro owners will interact with the MRC. I know a former Chairman has one ordered - looking forward to an entertaining but possibly sphincter loosening CIHAGM at the Manx. -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Moto Guzzi Mille GT/Squire RS3 Gilera Nordwest | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------+
Please post at the bottom as per the FAQ I only ever bid in the last 5 seconds. When I buy something it is generally the intention to get the price as low as possible.
And in other news, grannies suck eggs. Please post at the bottom Jon, or I'm afraid "vitriol" will ensue. I wouldn't go encouraging people to consider shill bidding on a public forum either - and I certainly wouldn't "LOL" in public. These things do your credibility no good at all.
If anyone wants an outfit they can have the Dnepr Dealer of Near Death I still have. They don't come much more nastier: http://www.sweller.dynalias.org/outfitprogress/photos/photo5.html Haven't fixed it yet either, need some room and time TBH. So non runner but all the bits. Offers? Anyone?
I have successfully sold several bikes and one car on ebay. The best strategy is 99p start and no reserve. Of course there is a risk that it might fetch less than you think its worth but there is far more chance of getting a bidding war going. People start off thinking that they might get a real bargain, then someone outbids them by a few quid so they rebid and before long the price is often above what was expected. A couple of of my son's old scooters fetched TWICE what I had expected and none of the vehicles went for stupidly low prices. OTOH if the start price is set high people think about it more before committing - everyone is waiting to see if anyone else bids.
Well sorry, but just in case everyone out in Ebayland thinks this just a SOB no way am I going to have no reserve OR starting price. I am not that desperate to sell it. I would actually like people to think about it - not just snare someone who got carried away and doesn't really want it. -- +-----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Moto Guzzi Mille GT/Squire RS3 Gilera Nordwest | | Gilera GFR Moto Morini 2C/375 | +-----------------------------------------------------------------+

I turned up this earlier this evening, and just laughed out of pure joy. It's practically art. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160003497307

When you sell it you will see it diasappear off down the road and it is VERY unlikely that you will ever know what happens to it. Why worry about whether or not somebody thought about it before buying it? If it really matters to you then don't sell it. Otherwise, take the highest price you can get, even if the purchase intends to subject it to unspeakable perversions.
