    Hi All

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on a problem I've got on my new (to me)
    bike, it's a Bandit 600S (2000) with 6K on the clock.

The problem is that it won't bleeding start when the engine is hot, the only
way to get it going (eventually) is to give it a handful (and I mean shed
    loads) of revs.

I have had the carbs balanced, valve clearances adjusted, idle mixture
adjusted & new spark plugs correctly gapped.

Any help would be gratefully received as I am running out of ideas and
money, and with my iffy back I can't carry out the work myself.

    TIA, David

I've found that giving my Bandit any throttle at all while starting it,
tends to flood it.. then it's hard to start.

How do you start it when hot / cold then?

Check carb float heights, then swap out the coils to see if it improves.

  5. Check the air filter. It's probably caked in shit and will cause the
    symptoms you describe.

It starts cold off just the choke, but hot I have tried everything... no
throttle... a bit... half... all make no odds, eventually have to give it
loads of throttle and lots of turning over.

    It's a right sod !

Give it a coat of pink paint. That should embares it enough to want to get
    away.

    Not yet :)

How on earth are you supposed to get these things sorted... phoned Suzuki
dealer and they say "it's trial and error" but that could cost a fortune
    before finding the problem

Hmmm, think I'm looking for some light at the end of my tunnel.

New air filter made no difference, so it looks like it's the carbs, coils,
cdi, throttle position sensor, leads, valves... blah... blah... blah...
    aaaaaarrrrg.

If it's not done very many miles, the carbs may want a clean out maybe?
My FZR had the same problem, so I reset the mixture screws to factory
settings and all was well again.

As WaveyDavey can confirm, bike shops don't always know how to sort
carbs out. Get someone who knows what they're doing to sort it out.

Nah it's only done 6K but on asking the previous owner it now appears it has
been a little temperamental for some time.

My local mechanic is gonna have another look at it on Friday or Monday if
not I suppose I'll have to put it into a main dealer for their perusal....

This sounds about right. With all these things there is usually an
obvious and fairly locatable problem which can be solved. Sometimes the
little bugger look so much something else it is untrue. Most of the
time it is a piece of piss but sometimes they are just hard to pin down.

I think you are getting into the swing of it now.
