    Hi guys,
Some time ago we were having a discussion where I extolled the virtues of
Phone-Home. Telstra have now terminated this free service. It has been
replaced by a 'Telecard' which does the same thing. You can use it to call
home from any phone, private or public, and the call will be charged to your
home phone. The difference with the Telecard is that it isn't limited to use
    in Australia.

You can also have a control removed so that you can use it to call other
numbers and still have the costs charged to your home phone.

Telstra Telecard® is a convenient calling card that enables you to make
phone, fax and modem calls from most phones in Australia and more than 65
countries. Telstra Telecard is issued free, and you can have your calls
automatically billed to your business or home phone account with no monthly
fees or credit charges. And, if you require assistance, the Telstra Telecard
Service centre is available from 8am to 10pm (AEST), 7 days a week.

Telstra Telecard is a cashless calling card that enables you to make phone,
fax and modem calls in Australia and more than 65 countries~. Call costs are
then automatically billed back to your home or business phone account.

    Cheers

<snip of what looked very like spam>

Did someone pay you to post that Theo?

Aren't you supposed to ring a wee bell or something, when you're about
    to do an advertorial?

    regards,

Sorry, it was a continuation of a conversation I was having with Zebee and
some others just before I left for Phillip Island. I just got the paperwork
and a telecard sent to me to replace my Phone-home card. Telecard calls are
more expensive. I've had one like forever (more than 20 years). Stop at
Nullarbor Roadhouse and you don't need money to call home is good for me. I
had this card before we had mobile phones. Mobile coverage fixes most of
those situations now, but still leaves gaps in my travels.

I've had a Telecard for maybe 25 years but I haven't used it in the last 15.
(And it's not currently in my wallet so maybe I've lost it).
It was bloody handy back in the days before I had a mobile and back when I
used to travel a bit for work.
