I thought you'd all got rid of them. I'm told that the other half of
    mine isn't allowed.

I'm the one with the Tenere which just happens to have a beefed up
subframe so you can carry plenty of luggage without worrying too much.
Now if I was using a 660R it might be a different matter...

We got rid of the outfits after deciding that between us we can drag a
solo out of a ditch but with a big old K series outfit it might be a
    bit difficult.

Add a winch to the pile of gear.

It's easier to just not bother with outfits. They're expensive to run
because they use nearly double the fuel of a solo (1), they're not as
easy to park up off road, they're slow and they're tiring to ride
compared to a solo. Nothing to commend them really.

    (1) I'm comparing fuel used at 70mph on the BMW I had against the fuel
used at 70mph on my Tenere. If you can't maintain 70mph on a motorway
you start to feel very vulnerable.

Let's hope nobody tries it on one of those then, it'd be disasterous.

I'm pretty sure there isn't an A+E licence category.

  11. You know what you can do.

There's nothing wrong with the subframe on a 660R for a road trip...

  12. Oh, I don't know.

If I'd seen the GS outfit on ebay a few months earlier I might have
bought it. I'd still like a GS based outfit and I didn't really have a
problem with speed on my K. Mind you, I did have a problem with fuel
    consumption.

I have a horrible feeling that in a few weeks I'm going to be cursing
myself for not buying an outfit.

    **** off?
As long as you don't overstress it by putting a couple of massive
aluminium panniers and a similar sized top box on it.

Mine was fast enough once you'd gone through the speed wobble but
after I'd changed the rear wheel the fuel consumption was pretty
    terrible.
If I really though an outfit was the best way to do this one I'd have
kept mine and fitted snow chains when we hit bad roads.
