As I type it's 4.16am. On Ten there is some religious bullshit. Ten HD (it's not
called "One" out here) has a demonstration video on.

**** Ten with a passion, and its goldfish too.

Silly me for thinking that Ten Vic would have it on. And when I went to work Fox
Sports hadn't upgraded its EPG so I didn't know which channel was going to show
it. And it'd be a tad rude to call the missus, wake her up and to get her to
    fire up the Mystar.

Now, I have no problems whatsoever downloading House and Life. So there, Ten you
    pricks!

Yep, I got up at 3.45. Watched some bullshit advertorial for a
whipper snipper thing, then some bullshit televangelist stuff. By 4.05
I gave up and was bloody wide awake, so watched the lap times on the
laptop. **** I'm tired. And cranky. Thanks Channel 10.

  4. That's the sort of bullshit that prompted me to get Austar in the
first place. Sure, it costs a bundle compared to free, but then
compare that to the mountain of shit you have to wade through when you
rely on free, and pay starts to look pretty darn good.

Not to mention I kept missing races on free because of the shit
broadcast times, and no repeats. With austar, the races are live, the
commentators actually know what they're talking about, there are no
missed bits due to ad breaks in the middle of a lap, and if I happen
to miss a race I can catch it on any of several repeats.

Option 1: pay nothing, but have a lot to complain about.
Option 2: pay a bit, and have nothing to complain about.

And remember, you do get what you pay for.

A while back I put a TV card in the computer for about $70. Now I just
let it record Ch10 continuous all night. The next morning skip through
the .mpg file and then watch the race my time. Just have to avoid the
    radio before watching it still.
Best $70 spent, recommend it to anyone.

It looks like it was only on 1HD and started at 4am.
Expect a "care" package in the mail in a day or two Betty.
    Cheers ..... Clem

What's the point of racing? What's the point of watching?
Rules are laid out and everyone agrees to them when they start the season
(and has right of appeal should they feel unfairly treated).
The rule that applied said "half points" so that was that.

I was asking what the point of awarding half points, was? ie. what does it
achieve, or what is the thinking behind such a rule.

[shrug] Under 3 laps = no race. [1]
Over 3 laps but lass than 2/3 race-distance covered = half points
    Over 2/3 race-distance completed = full points

It's been like that for yonks [2] and as far as I'm aware it's the same for
    F1 cars.

Since the demise of the wildcard rider, championship points are the only
reason they're out there. Half points is a compromise that recognises
the efforts of the riders while recognising that they did not complete
enough of the race to warrant full points.
