Right, I've finally got the photos taken at the Donington event on
    some useable web space.

You can take a look at them here:
    http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/~cczipw/TeamUKRM/index.htm

Let me know what you think. They're pretty much in cronological order
except for the last 12 which should be somewhere near the beginning,
    IYSWIM.

    Anyway, have a look, enjoy.

I like the way you've caught the interplay of light on interestingly
contoured surfaces, as shown in Img_3905.jpg. But if you're going to
Photoshop hair, at least use a realistic colour.

That'd be lovely if you didn't have so much space taken up above/below
the image frame that it was unable to display the entire image without
    scrolling.

    Nice work Ian!
You've got a good eye - some impressive composition there and I especially
like the slow-sync flash work on some of the pit-lane shots.

Cheers, as I've said before, I *really* enjoyed myself and look
forward to my next event. I'll probably hire a proper lens[1] (or at
least get a converter) for next time as the 75-300 was a little
limited when it came to trying to get the head/shoulders tight crops,
even given that I was hanging over the tyre barriers for some of them.

The slow sync flash stuff is easy to achieve.
Buy a Canon 550 EX the day before, don't allow any time to read the
manual, and set it on Full Auto ... ;)

[1] A 600 mm f4 with IS should do it.

    <fx tuts>
    Fucking monitor pikeys
    </fx>

I used Photoshop's Automate, Web Gallery and it's not got the greatest
templates to work with. I set the main image size so that you wouldn't
have to scroll if your monitor was set at 1024x768 which most 17
    inchers will do easily.

When I get time to RTFM, I'll generate my own template with better
    navigation, and better presentation.

I wouldn't bother with converters unless you buy decent quality ones for the
    more professional lenses.
You'll get better quality from a longer consumer lens than a half-decent
top-end consumer lens with a cheap & nasty converter.
LOL - my 550EX is still a mystery to me.
    I should say!
www.calumetphoto.com rent these out at £71.50 per day (or £107.25 for a
weekend - collect Friday, return by 10am Monday). Prices are ex-vat.

  10. they're rather good - I do like looking at photos that are taken by
people with skill and a decent eye for a shot.

I'll say - he somehow managed to catch me overtaking someone
(IMG_3980, IMG_3981 and IMG_3982), which must have reqd the patience
    of a wildlife photographer!

    I hear ya, but it's _200_quid_converter_ Vs _6_grand_lens_ ....
I mused with renting one from them for this event but thought "stick
with the kit you know, just get used to the event". Then next time,
I'll know what to expect, and can try some more kit. Perhaps something
    like this Mo-Fo

Had you thought of venturing into gay porn, Ian?

This is very disappointing. I always thought that there would be some
subtle seduction before I was wooed towards my first gay romp. Well,
    either that or some Rohypnol.

I'm running 1024x768 on this laptop. Could have done 1280x1024 on
the TFT panel next to be, but couldn't be arsed.

No probs! And thanks for the pint you bought me at the EOSM. You darted off
before I got a chance to thank you in person.
