Team UKRM crash a lot...

....according to Darren Eyre [1] anyway.

I picked the engine up tonight and the guy introduced Darren (who was
hanging about) as a KRC rider. I mentioned I'd be racing with Team
UKRM and he said "I hope you don't crash as much as the rest of them!"

Now I was about to leap to the team's defence but then realised:

    a) I know there have been a few crashes
    b) I'm not sure of the exact number

So I simply said "maybe, but they're out there giving it a go." He
    agreed.

[1] Team Hottrax who I believe are just a little bit quick.

    Daz says...
I know Darren, he's the parts manager at Street Machine in Aylesbury. He
bought some really nice MJK leathers made to the same design as the
Suzuki World Endurance team riders have. Nice bloke, and seriously quick
on the road, also does a bit of track-day instruction. I thought he was
    with No Limits, not Hottrax.

True, we haven't had the most auspicious of starts to the season.
Champ getting skittled at the first round could hardly be put down
to us though. Bishopscourt, hmmm, fair cop. We (I) had a minor off
in the 1st hour, before our new 'star' spectacularly lunched both
the bike and himself, in the 5th hour.
I thought we did pretty damn well at Pembrey though, we kept it clean
and consistant for the whole six hours, between the two of us.

Indeed we are, the whole idea was to just get out there and enjoy it.
This we do. Personally speaking, I, as a road rider who's only experience
of track riding has been two track days and 4 races where I got some
meaningful track time (I didn't start in either Snett or Pembrey, last
year and had about 20 mins on a sickly bike at Oulton, this year), am
only really just beginning to get to grips with this malarkey.

I'm finding it very hard to counteract twenty odd years of programmed riding
styles and responses in order to get the best out of myself and the bike.
However, I'm beginning to hopefully see some light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm now much more focused and less 'hurried' on the track and I'm beginning
to be able to adapt my riding style.

Looking forward to the 8 hour at Snetterton on Aug 15th, hugely.)

AG crashed own bike the Friday before practice. So not technically a
    UKRM crash.
Pemb 2 AG got shunted in practise at hairpin but brought the bike in
    then we had fueling problems.
To be honest Champ, it's probably not a bad as quite a few others.

IMO it's not bad at all given the number of hours you're out there. I
was just curious to see whether the team agreed with Darren that they
    tend to crash a lot.

    Only this year, I'm afraid.

It's pretty much a full time job looking after the bike and organising
    everythig reqd <thinks: must order some brake pads> - I just don't
have time to keep the web site up to date too.

Any crash is one too many, really. We could do better, but that's
    racing.

Stick a barcode on the front of the bike, barcode reader on the pitwall, add
somefiddlysoftware stuff and hey presto real time updates. You could even
employ someone to walk up and down in sub record lap times carrying the
    barcode.

Also, a lot of the team's crashes were repairable and most on site but
some of the other teams needed all the kings horses and men just to
collect the pieces. I remember that team [1] at our first race
launching itself like a motar bomb and exploding at the end of Revett.
