You score highly on "close to the truth, old man" scale.

That's so true. It was all "It'll take too long and we've already lost
time; we won't get back in the points" and absolutely no "do you think
Darsy would be OK with this?"

I think we should have done it anyway.

Though the "just shove the race bodywork on Darsy's bike" did make a lot
    more sense.

"The process appears to have issues." is the one I seem to frequently
encounter, mostly coming from the mouths of incompetent bufoons.

Aye, that's where I've heard it too.
It's probably something to do with the circles you mix in. I don't
think I've ever met anyone who did offshore powerboat racing, or any
other kind for that matter, whereas I know dozens of sailors (fnaar).

well, I'd already said to Simon that if it happened that you needed any
bits off my bike that I'd be OK with it. I hadn't quite thought in
    terms of "the engine", mind.
that'd have been cool, as you'd have had to fix some of the things that
    are wrong with the bike.

Alex summed it up best when we sat watching the first couple of laps
at Pembrey after blowing the gearbox in qualifying.

"I sold my gixxer to do this".

That could be in every racers signature.
