Ok so you have had sponsored walks, sponsored silences well how about
    a sponsored Team UKRM event?

With the forthcoming 24 hour race I thought it would be a good idea if
we could throw some money their way. So GBP's for every hour they
race? even a pound an hour ?

I'll organise, and more importantly get all the dosh off everyone
    afterwards.

    so any takers?

Ok so you have had sponsored walks, sponsored silences well how about
why not set up a system for PayPal. Maybe an email address to send to.
Ok, I know they take a small amount off the deal, but it'd be useful if
people didn't want to trust the Post Office with cash or send a cheque etc.

Yeah, because the Post Office is known for its untrustworthiness.
Unlike those whiter-than-white folks at Paypal.

PayPal don't charge any commission on personal accounts as long as the
sender has the funds in their PayPal account & isn't sucking directly
from a credit card. At least that used to be the case.

    instead.

you've just saved me the bother of typing out almost exactly the same
    thing.

And to those that disagree, fancy "sponsoring" me on my next track day?

    something.

I agree with this 100%. Every so often there's someone doing something
like running a marathon, parachuting, whatever "for charity".
No - they're doing it because they want to - if I want to donate to
charity I'll do it directly with a direct debit.
    instead.

And have a cold beer too?

    AOL

I might turn up one day and try to be useful as part of a social
    occasion.

Asking for cash to subsidise a group's leisure pursuit is taking the
    piss IMHO.

Perhaps next time I organise a run throught the Brecons I should ask
SteveH, GPZ & Cammo for a fiver to cover my petrol?

    that?

  16. Don't want to piss on anybody's chips, but isn't this whole racing thing
for the enjoyment of those taking part? Ok, great to support an'all, but
you have to pay to watch in the first place.

    It's not a charity. Sponsorship is supposed to give returns ie;
advertising etc. If I wanted to go racing, I wouldn't expect anyone else
to have to divvy up. And I doubt very much that the team would disagree
    with this sentiment.

Hell, donate yer dosh towards a kidney dialisys (sp?) machine or something.

I don't own a flame-proof shirt, so I'll just get in the pool instead.
