Tanks? Don't talk to me about tanks...

So today was the day that I decided to properly clean out the tank on
the BlingMobile. The problem is that some pillock has coated the inside
of the tank with some sort of sealant. Only it's crap. It's a cream
colour (El Spic suggested it's a septic product called "Kreme"). And it
almost (but not quite) sticks to the inside of the tank.

The upshot is that great lumps of it fall off and block the fuel tap.

Washing the tank out with hot soapy water got quite a lot of it out. A
steam cleaner got quite a bit more. Advanced gynaecology through the
fuel level sender hole got even more.

I was considering hacking a hole in the bottom of the tank, then
persuading Pip to weld it back, but his obvious enthusiasm for the
    project dissuaded me.

So I'm going to dry the fucking thing out, and hit it with some Petseal.
    We'll see what happens.

I love this bike, but it's a real pain in the arse sometimes...

  2. Let it dry, then pour in a handful of pea gravel. Shake it like ****
for a while. Rest and repeat. That will grit blast a lot of the worst
of it off prior to petsealing it.
    Like a good woman...

I like that idea. A lot. I shall do that. Thank 'ee master.
    Well, quite.

Or old nuts and bolts. Wedge it into the tumble drier with a couple of old
pillows, and give it a few hours on the cool setting.

  6. Nuts and bolts sounds good - Tumble drier could be a bit gentle
compared to a fully trained Morris dancer giving it a good shaking as
if it were a pigs bladder on a stick.

Excellent idea, if the tank isn't too big to fit into the tumble drier.

Probably easier to get back out than gravel, on reflection.
I don't think this tank will fit in the tumble drier. I might have to
    rig something up.

Not long, these days. Usually just long enough, in fact.

This one may need mechanical assistance.

It's an idea, but it'd be a bit expensive.

I think I'll use the nuts and bolts.

Attach it to a hardley ableson. Failing that, chuck on the dash of a
metro and get it up past 70. IME that'll shake it like it's on a
    jackhammer.

A year or so back, somebody on here recommended an outfit that would
chemically dung out your tank, but I can't find it on google.

Wait one, I've just had a thought.

    Yep, here it is:

That looks good, but I think they'd still have a problem with this
"Kreme" shit. I'll give the tumbling a go, and see what happens when I
    Petseal it.
