tank shapes

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Zebee Johnstone, Oct 31, 2007.

  1. OK, so I am pondering the Yam.

One of the problems with the tail end is that the tank is very small,
so the seat has to be very long - and so visually unbalanced - or you
ahve to have a long mudguard which is hard to brace well.

So an alternative is to use a different tank.

The big thing for me is that I don't want this to turn into Yet
Another Britbike Copy. There's millions of Yam singles about
pretending to be Manxes or Velos and I don't want to make this into
    another one.

What I'm after is pictures of bikes. Twins or singles for preference,
ranging from not very sporty to quite sporty. Bikes that look good
without being a copy of something else.

Cos if I can find a tank shape that works I can use it...

I'll do that too, although I also have a line on a tank maker that
doesn't charge both arms and a leg and a half.

Getting a feel for what they look like on a different bike is
important too, as the side panels and motor make a huge visual
difference. So pics of already modified bikes are useful.

Well, I kinda like the style of the TZ tank, as per
    http://www.classic-motorcycle-fiberglass.com/yamaha_tz.htm
    and the grey SR on
    http://www.classic-motorcycle-fiberglass.com/yamaha.htm
    looks pretty to me.

Dunno it will fit over the frame tube.
