Tank Bag Queries

Wonder if anyone can help.

The bike was stolen recently, along with the headstock strap for my Oxford
Sports tankbag. I now have a new bike, and still have the tankbag itself.

Now then, is there anyone with greater experience than me who could answer a
couple of little questions.

Is it ok/safe to just use the tankbag without the headstock strap? If it isn't,
does anyone happen to know if a suitable strap can be picked up at B & Q or
Homebase or similar. Or, indeed, would a short bungee cord be the solution.

I only ask as I'm a bit reluctant to shell out excessive cash for a new one from
Oxford, if indeed they supply replacements at all.

I've never used the strap on my Oxford tankbag and so far me and the
bag are still in one piece.

well, if the bag's attached to you, of course you don't need the tank
strap.

I use an Oxford Tankbag and I've never used the headstock strap

Talk to Oxford, I bet they would do a spare if you really want one.

Like a few others I rarely use mine, in fact I only clip it on when I
know I'm going to have to get petrol to hold the bag up.
