Tales from the crypt

  1. Dear diary,

Today I have bought and installed the new steering head bearings. Having
first turned up an installation tool[1]. Torqued up by the "That feels
about right, so back it off a bit" method. I couldn't get a bottom
grease seal in a sensible thickness, so I've settled for a good wodge of
    grease and hoping.

I've also changed the oil in the forks.

I've removed and measured the front brake lines, so I can wander into
the dealers tomorrow and buy new braided ones.

I've picked up the freshly sandblasted tank and dropped it off chez
Pixie, inadvertently getting Ollie all revved up in the process[2]. Now
Pip's going to drop it off with his tame painter and nag him until it's
    done.

There's a shedload of cleaning and polishing to be done tomorrow, then
I'm going to put the wheels back on, preparatory to taking it to the
dealer for valve clearances. Then it's remembering where all the stuff
came from, so I can put it back. Operation "Back On The Road Before My
Birthday" still looks sort of feasible.

I wonder what will go wrong?

[2] "You've bought a TANK! COOL! Oh... Not that sort of tank."
