tale of not selling a bike :-(

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Spinning Spanners, Jun 7, 2010.

  1. So someone was sniffing after an Adv [1] so although I was not looking
to sell, had a chat / meeting and there was interest. We came close to
a deal, but he wanted panniers (some 2nd hand ones just sold for £265
on ebay) and a Blackdog skid plate ($315 +P&P) thrown in for free. I
wanted £250 to include the above which I thought was admirably
    generous.

Anyway we’ve shaken hands and walked away as he wouldn’t budge.

    So a couple of questions.

    - Was he just a chancer, or am I missing something?
    - I started getting a hankering over a 950SE. I wasn’t looking to
sell, but now feeling all discontent - anyone recommend a good
    therapist?

    Cheers

**** him, you weren't in any rush to sell and he was simply pushing his
luck. If he wants panniers and a bash plate, tell him to buy the bike
at the price asked and then find his own bits to add - you're a private
individual, not a KTM dealer ffs.

Some people are just lazy tight cunts, as soon as I get win of someone
acting like that with me when I'm selling a bike I tell them to ****
off and stop wasting my time, if they get arsey I simply put the bike
away and walk inside the house after telling them in no uncertain
    terms to leave the property.

  3. Yup - pretty much word for word.
I like that - "saved for future use"
I think I need lessons from you, or buy/sell more often. I am now also
terrified that I may want to buy a bike off you one day, and try and
    get a good deal.....

    cheers

  4. yup - agree if we are going all serious. My Adv I brought for what was
being asked as it was a fair price, well cared for, FSH etc.

    cheers

  6. The worst restoration imaginable., Thousands spent on new components,
and refurbishing of components, and then they were all thrown back
together wrongly, bolted together with the original rusty fasteners, and
just about everything that could have been cocked up was.

But.... it was worth a fortune in parts.
