...was No1 son this morning. He's at some pedestrian lights (on red) on his
SV650, stationary with feet down, when old bat on a Yamaha scooter dogpiles
into the back of him at about 20mph. He thought he wasn't injured too bad
but it turns out he'd dislocated his lefy shoulder and it had popped back in
again. Got him to hospital and back home. Just picked up his bike. The
pannier frame is well modified but the bike rode well coming back.
Those little SVs are *cracking* little bikes. The sound of the Akro on it in
    particular is beautiful.
So all back home safe and sound. Now for the paperwork.

  2. Well, as nobody else seems to have: clumsy ****.

I was going to ask "how did he not know that his shoulder was
dislocated?", but then recalled that when I broke my collarbone, the
early symptoms were just a sort of 'not quite right' ache and a funny
clicking that only happened when I shrugged in a particular way.

The pain hit an hour or so later.

  3. Same here. I quite comfortably rode the bike back to the digs, and got a
    lift down to the hostpittle.

  4. I've had two scooters arse-end me in the last 15 months, on my daily
commute. Both sliding on their sides after I stopped and they locked the
    front wheel.

    Must be a scooter 'thing'.

    Rite of passage innit.

I'm sure we've all locked the front at some stage of our biking
    careers.

I've done it, and i've no wish to repeat the experience. The front
brake can be a great ally or a great foe :)

  6. Ahem, yes. That's how I broke my collar bone. It's a long way down off a
    Quota.
