Sorry to hear about this mate.
Although filtering in a cage can be superb fun, it sounds like the gap was a
bit too narrow and the lights a bit too red on this occassion.

My uncle was persuaded by Mr. Plod to give up driving after a minor

I will first thing tomorrow. Have also checked where I stand on a loan bike
and it would appear if my Ins. Co won't provide one, then the RAC will - the
ohter driver ends up paying regardless (as long as he's at fault).
We all make mistakes - I know what you're saying, but if it me who'd made
the mistake I would've liked the chance to have what is effectively a retest
without getting a ban or points. If he's proven unfit to drive then it has
the same effect as being convicted, but without the stigma etc - at the end
of the day it's an old couple - yes they hit me, but they didn't do it
maliciously. In some respects I'm thankful it was Mr and Mrs Doddery as they
probably _more_ likely to have up to date insurance and the like.
I appannetly have all his details (as do the police) including Ins Co name
    so we shall see.

Heh , I might yet consider it - would you loan me one (and it's V5) for
awhile if the GSX-R is written off? :)

I think it's better than being prosecuted - I mean what's it really going to
do, getting him in front of the court etc?

It's not like he's a young know it all - he's an old boy who made a mistake.
Yes, it could have been so much worse, but it wasn't. Of course, if if turns
out he wasn't insured you can be sure this attitude may change!!

Don't worry about it. Inform your insurers but make a claim directly
from the 206 insurers. As a non-fault accident you shouldn't lose
    your NCB.

I nearly tried to filter on the M25 once in my ICL van. Could have
    been embarrassing.

  14. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
A bloke tried to filter down the outside of me (in my Tranny) in his
Rover just as the road narrowed in Watford High St. Much crashing and
dinging noises ensued as he ended up wedged between a bus and a van full
    of builders.

Roars of laughter from my van as I continued my journey.

Because if the GSX-R is written off, I won't have enough money to buy a new
bike (not sure I'd be happy buying a 2 year old, 15k mile GSX-R600!) and
therefore whilst I save some money up, it would be good to continue
    insurance on something Shite.

So basically, biek sits in garage, V5 allows me to insure it - sweller gets
    space in his garage.

Er - how does that work? Every bit of paper I have (and what the police
said) is "Tell your insurers, let them deal with it" - not "ring up the
other parties insurance and bollock them"
I can arrange this through my own insurance though I think...
