I think you are the only one who suggested anything about being a
wanker. I was simply suggesting that you might consider a more relaxed
riding style that doesn't require close monitoring of engine output.

FWIW my car, an underwhelming automatic, has a totally useless tacho,
whereas I'd rather like to have one on the Bitsushiti truck because just
keeping up with traffic on the highway often involves extracting the
last little bit of power from the poor thing.

I wouldn't have thought you'd need to push the limits of your motor to
achieve an enjoyable experience. If you do, maybe a cruiser is not a
    good fit.

No. But strange as it may seem, Peter, I don't envisage more than
0.0001% of my overall ridingtime to be spent dodging witches hats.
    No thanks. Style issue.
Yeah, I know how to use Goggle Images too. I can find lots of them
overseas too, and buy them online from there, but here's the weird
bit, Peter: I'm trying throw my money at someone here in Australia in
the hope that at least some of it helps someone here. Weird concept,
I know... That's us socialist nonviolent patriots for ya.. ;-)
Yes, but I doubt you've yet figured out why I want one.

BTW, **** off with your snide comments, Peter. From you I have zero
tolerance for that. I haven't forgotten your antics in that stupid
flame war a while back. So just piss off and don't talk to me, OK?
Better still, killfile me, you fucking twisted piece of shit.

    [sigh]

I'm sorry, Moike, but I'd had it with the non-helpful comments this
thread had garnered, and then Nev's comment just made my day, and I
lost the plot a bit. In Usenet, that's not a problem, yes? I was
mainly reacting to fuckwit Nev. Sorry to include you in my retort.
I could explain why I want a tacho for my bike Moike, but I fear it's
a case of "if I have to explain it to you, you won't be able to
    understand it."

Those who don't need my explanation understand it perfectly. Problem
    bilong you, pella.

If you want to do the traditional no-helmet cruiser thing you could always get a
piercing above your right eyebrow and clip it on to that ;-)

I wouldn't mind having a tacho on my cruiser temporarily, until my ear learns to
pick the revs without having to look. Good luck with it.

Hhving seen Gerry's bike first hand, I can honestly say that it has
all of the charm and style that you could ever wish for. So no, there
    is no oxymoron.

Wow, I wasn't even replying to you. I commented in response to Moike's
post, but since your grade 2 English teacher failed you, I'll need to
point out that when I said "I didn't need a tacho" what I actually
intended the reader to read was "I didn't need a tacho" rather than the
apparent ambiguously similar "you don't need a tacho".

I wouldn't go as far as to say that anyone who wants one is a wanker,
however, a P-plater in an EA falcon who wants one, and wants to mount it
external to the cabin of the car on the bonnet facing back into the
driver with a matching oil pressure and temperature gauge is probably a
    wanker. YMMV.

Here is the last email sent to me by you....

    ----------------------

I've already provided all I intend to provide, Peter.

Read the bit below marked with hash symbols.

    You took sides.
    You joined a war.
    You behaved like a jerk.
    You got hit.
    Shit happens.

If you can't deal with shit happening:
    Don't take sides.
    Don't join wars.
    Don't behave like a jerk.

    Get over it.
    Move on.

    Clear now?

    ------------------------

You sent the above because I asked what I did to upset you.
You claimed the above and I felt/feel this is untrue and asked for links
from you to provide an example.
You were unable to provide any links to the statements I made that
upset/offended you so I still have no idea why you posted my full name
    Gerry Binder.
You have explained that it was already out there but not why you posted the
    way you did.
I read the third last and second last lines in your email above.
    Maybe you should.

    Dont forget the love!

They are now on the Paramatta Rd in Auburn. North side of the road,
city side of James Ruse Drive.

OK, Auburn.... I thought it was Granville, but then again I am sort of

Crapshit, Peter Tippett. All you need to do, Peter Tippett, is go
back and look over your exchanges with me during that flamewar. If
you have half a brain, Peter Tippett, you'll be able to see what you
said, where you were coming from when you said those things, and
you'll realise why I took the stance I took. You don't need me to
explain anything to you, Peter Tippett.

And now you've taken to broadcasting private emails here. This just
keeps getting better and better, Peter Tippett.

Went there yeterday. Didn't find anything that would fit the bill
    though. :-(

I want one that reads to 9000 rpm, analog display, handlebar mounted.

I've found one in the States for around $200. May have to get that
one; but it's a shame I can't find one here and throw at least a _few_
    bucks at an Aussie entrepreneur.

I dunno how much you have been paying attention to the relative prices
of stuff here and over there, but, from the stuff that I have seen, it
isn't "throwing a few bucks at the Aussie entrepreneur" but more being
substantially ripped off by the Aussie entrepreneur.

I was talking to a bloke who had bought a Bonnie (modern one) who had
shopped around for replacement rear shocks.

He liked the IKON ones, which are made in Oz, but found it was both
cheaper and quicker to order said shocks from a US shop, than buy them
    locally.

Well, I went to the Harley counter, and as soon as they heard the word
"Hyosung" their eyesglazed over and they said, in a tone one would use
when talking to someone beneath contempt "try the front counter."

The guy at the front counter had no decent tachos to show me.

And yes, 9000rpm seems to be the problem. No trouble getting 8000s or
13000s. Since max power is at 8250rpm, I feel the 8000 is too low,and
1300 is a bit silly. Call me fussy. :)
Yes, there is that too. So much for trying to keep the money here,
    eh? :-(

    Probably both.

I bought a VDO electronic tacho for the YAM from an auto instrument
    place.

However they are meant for cars which means you have to make your own
housing for them. I pondered putting the thing or just the guts in a
suitable housing from a wreck, but in the end went with a plastic
housing for a boat and painting it.

If you want it for a cruiser you will probably have to go the wreck
route, although getting one of the right size might be hard.

Mine only went to 7 grand which is OK for a single. There are ones
that go to 10 but I think you have to special order them.
