Couple of weeks back I witnessed some severe road bashing , bloke who
had right of way got thumped by some scumbag in a large 4wd with a
filthy mouth , I dropped a card in beshee's hand and went immediately on
completion of my business to the local coppers and made statement . The
basher arrived as I finished and tried to lie about what happened :)
Local Sargent was pretty short with .The are pricks and utter pricks
on the road every waking moment

Notice that you've unintentionally agreed with IK's assertion that you're
naive 'cause you didn't listen to him?
Fark I spotted it straight away.
No surprise you're so slow though.....

Why do you make a habit of lying on line ?

People judge you "in real life" within the first 30 seconds of meeting
you. On usenet you get far more opportunity to make a good (or bad
impression). In fact given you aren't going to be judged for the clothes
you wear the job you do or the car you drive I would suggest that what
you post is far faier indication of the intrinsic "you" on which to
    judge someone.

Nope, I don't care how big your tits are, I WILL (1) judge you by what
    you post...

    JL
    (1) and so will everyone who cares about more than just physical appearances

  13. He doesn't drive a car, too young
and he doesn't ride a bike, thrashed it and fucked it up, now he is crying to
everyone about how long and how much it is going to cost him to fix

Twelve days since our incident with the taxi, I'm still waiting for our
insurance company to send me a claim form.

My neighbour backed his car into my wife's car a few weeks ago. I think
within 12 days of the accident _his_ insurance company had sent two
letters and phoned twice, hassling me to contact them and book the car
    in for assessment/repairs.

No it doesn't.. well, not in the context of the matter at hand, or your
statement that legal fees would be part of the cost of recovering money
from the other party and it's wrong to hypothesise about cases in the
extreme without stating that you're talking about cases in the extreme.
The matter at hand is a small traffic incident with no indication that
there will be any trouble recovering losses.

You cannot claim legal costs from the other party. Only a court can
award costs, and in almost all cases of that nature the matter would
never get to court. If you go straight to a solicitor from the word go
and start incurring legal expenses, you're not mitigating your losses.
What you spend, you pay for. It's just plain stupid to initiate
communications by paying a solicitor $500 to send a letter of demand
when a handwritten letter with a couple of quotes attached in an
envelope with a 50c stamp would be just as effective and achieve the
    same result.

That was dumb wasn't it. Why would he want to initiate a confrontation
when they've offered to pay him? What's wrong with waiting a day or two
    for the mail to arrive?

How old do you think I am, George ? Given your nature I'll accept an
estimate of 10 years younger than I actually am.

As for this part, I understand your point, however 'in here' there's an
undo and backspace and you can spend hours constructing a post if you
want, or you can just reply and send. In here things can be typed and
then deleted before it's even sent - so to be fair, it's another way of
presenting yourself to people that you can have unlimited attempts at.
After all I could've had someone proofread this to make sure my grammar
was OK. In the last half hour I could've thought of 20 or so things to
reply with. If we were conversing in person that's not an option. Even
if you say "let me rephrase that" whoever you're speaking with still
    heard it the first way.
