the bestselling autobiographical journal, The Motorcycle Diaries finds the
future revolutionary as a young medical student as he sets off to ride from
Buenos Aires through Chile and Peru to Venezuela, with his best friend,
Alberto Grenado.

Shying away from over politicising the "legend of Che", Walter Salles
(Central Station) instead frames Guevara's rite-of-passage as a classic road
movie, filled with adventure, humour and honesty. A love-letter to a

Speaking of this movie.. One of the Netrider organisers had tried to rally the
troops to have a special screening of this movie for Netrider members on Thurs
Dec 16th at the Nova Cinema in Carlton. Unfortunately they didn't get a big
enough response to book the whole cinema so the netrider movie night was
cancelled, however a few people still plan to go along for a screening that
evening. Session times on www.novacinema.com.au/session.html don't get
updated for next week till the beginning of the week, but I expect we'll be at
whatever session they have around 7pm.

Yup, and it's why he started smoking cigars ! True ! (Don't tell the

.... and if they stick to the story, the bike clapped out less than a
third of the way through the trip, and they never rode one again.
Despite being a long time card carrier, I found the book relatively
tedious, lacking in his political analysis of later years, and pretty
much devoid of motorcycle content. I threw the book away. (Anyone who
has seen my shelves will know that is a rarity!)

Still, since when has that phased the Hollywood myth makers? Ever since
they took a good horror story "Leningen versus the ants", removed horror
and added sex and called it "The Naked Jungle", nothing they do has
surprised me!
