SYD: first aid course

  1. via the MCC list. I've been on one of these courses, every rider
    should. Knowing what to do when someone's come off and been hurt is
    vital.

    Details of a St Johns Motorcycle First Aid Couse follow. We have just
    over a dozen places available. First in gets them. Course is at our
    club meeting venue so we can put on tea and coffee. Lunch is either
    BYO or about a 100m walk to the local shopping strip were you can get
    anything that takes your fancy. Ample off street parking is available
    on site.

    The BMWTNSW is sponsoring a Motorcycle First Aid via St John
    Ambulance. This course is designed to equip the participant with the
    skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to an injured or ill
    motorcycle rider.

    Included in the course:

    · Safety at the scene of an accident, recognition and management of
    the unconscious rider.

    · The management of trauma including bleeding (internal &
    external), shock and chest injuries.

    · When and how to remove a motorcycle helmet, resuscitation
    techniques, burns treatment, wounds including impaled objects, gravel
    rash, laceration, contusions and management of the casualty.

    Attendees must be of a minimum age of 14 years.
    Guide booklet and bandages. You must provide two large towels for
    exercises and your helmet.

    Please wear comfortable, casual clothing. You may also like to bring
    your own pen and paper for additional notes.

    A Certificate of Attendance will be issued at the completion of the
    course.

    Price:

    $100 inc GST for BMWTCNSW non-members

    (Payment is required upon booking your place in the course)

    A minimum of 12 people are required for this course to go ahead, with
    a maximum of 24 people. In order for this course to be run, it is
    essential that you book as soon as possible.

    This course will be held at the Andrew Cooke Room in the Toongabbie
    Community Centre, cnr Targo and Toongabbie Rds, Toongabbie, and should
    be finished by 5pm.

    Tea/Coffee will be available, lunch is not provided.
