Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Eddie Bloke on the radio this morning said he called the NHS Swine Flu Advice line. We got one this morning telling us we're not allowed to talk to anyone about it, and who we should refer questions to. Typical coprorate nonsense-making.

The person sending these emails would be better off standing in the toilet and tutting loudly when people don't bother washing their hands after doing their business. Dirty bastards.

Ours have issued several updates, but they're mainly focussing on the point at which everyone's issued with their own Tamiflu packs, which has already happened in some of our US offices. We're assured that we have more than enough for all employees and their families, so that's all right then.
Although there have been one or two such scare stories, it's actually very unlikely, given the mode of action, which is generically anti-viral, rather than targetting specific strains like a vaccine would do. It's possible, I guess, but don't forget also that, unlike some of the antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains, the human body does eventually kill the virus, so even if it had started to develop some sort of resistance to Tamiflu, its survival is only prolonged by a couple of days in one individual.
