Going over the ton is the important part. Once your speed reaches 100mph
that's it; as I can attest.

It took the English nearly 5 months to send me one. I thought I'd got

    What about a non-employment matter?

I will be for the 'initial advice' but I'm pretty much bang to rights.
There is, however, one issue I need clarifying but I'm not holding my
    breath.

I thought you were a fighting man?
A handheld laser at a distance of over a Kilometer on an object with no
obvious forward reflector (no. plate). No fucking way!! The right Brief
and expert testimony will turn that to porridge. Really.

My understanding is the Lasers don't need a reflector in the same way
radars do and that type of Laser is good for 2km and is, apparently,
easy to get a lock on a relatively small target e.g. me on an unfaired
    Guzzi.

When I saw the unmarked car I'd just overtaken a phalanx of holiday
cars; still in fourth and accelerating; so 98 is about right.

There is a chink in the armour which I need to look into. Not holding
out a great deal of hope mind so damage limitation is order of the day.

It does mention "following employment", to be fair but I'm sure as eggs
are eggs that I read they'd represent and defend possible loss of
licence in other circumstances. I'll try and dig it out when I get a
    tuit.

Possibly, but that wasn't what was being asked. AIUI, sweller was asking
was what he could expect. I assumed he was going to hold his hands up
and "prace bets now" said to me he'd resigned himself to his fate.

Anyway, a ban, if you can find a good insurance company, won't have
/that/ much of an effect on insurance although my first renewal after my
    ban was horrendous.

When I was researching things pre-sentencing earlier this year, I found
a ban was roughly equivalent to 6 points in terms of effect on premiums.
I even told my brief that, given I was expecting roughly 18 months or 9
    points, I'd prefer the ban.

Depends what you're banned for though, doesn't it?

I lost my licence through the totting up procedure.

The way I got round the hike was to tell the insco. that finally gave me
a quote about all the points I got leading to the TT99[1]. It seemed by
    telling them I had a TS10, SP30 and a SP30 with 6 points they'd give me
a quote rather than the TT99. They were happy to do this even after I
    told them I'd been disqualified.

BTW, time flies mate because I've just realised my ban no longer applies
and as soon as I CBA, I can have it removed from my licence.

    [1] Disqualified for totting up

Were you banned from driving cars as well, or does it just affect the
    bike part of your licence?

You wish. I have often thought that a driving ban should still allow
someone to ride a Honda C90 or similar, so his life will not be entirely
screwed up. Or would that be a cruel and unusual punishment?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that banned drivers in France are
allowed to drive those tiny single cylinder diesel engine powered micro
car things you see trundling along. Something to do with the hardship
that would be caused to someone in a very rural area if deprived of
    transport.

A figment of my imagination though perhaps.

  19. No, you're right. They can be driven by people who don't have a proper
driving licence or who have lost theirs for one reason or another. Or
they're physically incapable of driving a proper car.

I give them a wide, wide berth because you can be certain that the
driver is (1) incompetent or (2) pissed or (3) a spaz of (4) all three.

This is usually associated with a "White Licence" and I suppose it does
depend upon what you've lost your licence for. Drink Driving is one of
those crimes where you'll not be allowed to drive a voiturette.
