Right, 3 years ago I had an sv650s, that got smashed and nicked after 3
months. Then I had a fazer 600 until 3 months ago but it was sold to pay
    for the civic.

The business is going pretty well now and I have £3500 - £4000 to
splurge on something. Insurance can be added on top of this price and I
    still have all my kit.

    Suggestions?

The fazer was fine, but didn't really excite me a great deal. I
absolutely loved the sv, oodles of acceleration compared to the fazer,
but this may just be fond memories of my first bike. Right now Im
considering another sv650 or the 1000. Have they sorted out the yard of
travel on the front forks? I remember it diving quite a bit under heavy
braking.... well, it dived a lot when I T-boned the chelsea tractor
    anyway ;-)

Am I likely to be dissapointed going back to my first love? is the
sv1000 any good? Im 6'3", so no monkey bikes. It'll be used for 95%
having fun now that I have the car for the boring stuff.

I know this is just asking for it, but I quite fancy a pink one.

Second handers start at £5k :-/ looks nice though and amazingly tpft was
only £600-odd. No one is selling second hand 750's

I *distinctly* remember you saying "You still got that SV? This Fazor is
loads better, smoother, handles better etc etc"

    Why the reverse of opinion?

Ah no, the fazer is smoother, the handling is better, but it isnt as fun
after having time to think about it. I dont know what or why but the sv
was more fun. Like I said, it might just be memories of my first decent
    machine.

The fazer is very refined, it does everything you expect and want it to
do. The sv on the other hand has soggy suspension, mediocre brakes and
no matter how hard I looked after it, the chain would rust.

The fazer is a nice lady, cleans the house well, makes good food, fun in
bed, the kind you settle down with. The SV is a tart thats rough around
    the edges and TIUTA.

If I had to pick a sensible bike to live with and use practically, it
would be the fazer, without question. But Im after something fun. It
doesnt have to be comfy, practical, carry pillions, carry luggage. It
    just has be be fun.

Actually, im a complete tart and never had the balls to
wheelie/kneedown/stoppie my bike. Not because im scared of getting hurt,
but because I couldnt afford to break the bike and not have it available
for commuting and shopping. Im somewhat tempted to get a cheap naked B6
or B12 and just go mad with it.

I think (hope!) you might be struggling to find a Z1000 for £4k but you
should certainly be able to get one for under 5. It would easily solve
the excitement problem for a while. And it will clearly demonstrate that
the SV doesn't have "oodles of acceleration", and that it has shit brakes.

I found the SV650 to 955i change worked quite well. You might be able
to get a speed triple in gay pink if you must.

Nope, but looking around, anything under 4k has 20k miles on it. I'll
keep having a look because I cant find much bad to say about them.
Although if they're related, I hated the sprint 955i, it just felt
    really horrible

Don't worry, there aren't any for 4 grand (im assuming you have one?)

OK, perhaps not oodles of acceleration, but interresting acceleration.
Im fully aware of its crappy brakes, I thought the newer 2003 fazer
    look-a-likes had better ones though?

Yep. I'm not *too* worried about depreciation but it'd be nice to think
it'd be worth *something* when I come to sell it in a year or so.
    Dunno. Might do.

No, I like it a lot. I just figured I'd get rid of it when it needs an
MOT. Possibly before, so I don't have to faff around with the number
plate. I'd then get something else.

Or I might not. I could hang onto it and tade the Tiger in instead:
Triumph should have come up with a new version by then.
