HFM?!! I thought it was only a low speed bin? Thank God I only ride SOBs.
Offer them a tenner for salvage?

    JB says...
15mph tops, but it wedged itself under a car even at that low speed. If
it had just slid and then stopped short the damage would have been about
300 quid maximum, because the R+G bung and exhaust can took most of the
falling over damage - there's no marks at all to the top fairing on the
side it slid on[1]. However, the complete fairing and headlight assembly
are trashed along with the main fairing bracket after going under the
    car.
I'll wait and see what the insco says, but the bike is now back at my
house and locked away. It's my bike not their's, ultimately I'll be the
one who decides what happens to it.

[1] The R+G did its job in keeping the fairing off the tarmac, all that
got broken was an indicator casing. Top piece of kit.

    I wrote off a K4 Gsxr 600 in 2005 (cat D) which they paid out £4995 for
(havent a clue why they didn't fix it as it only cost me £450 to fix ) i
bought it back from insurers for £1225.
Going on my experiance you should get the SV for about £900 either way u'll
make cash either fixing it or scrapping it.
I had to make it clear to them that i wanted 1st option on the salvage as
its rumoured their not to keen on this.

I admit to not fully understanding the way insurers think, but that
seems mad to me. If the repair estimate is more than £1000 less than
the insurance value, then surely it's worth repairing? Anyway, that's
also assuming main dealer charges - couldn't you do most of the work,
or sub it out to those who can (and are willing to, of course) on
ukrm? As to the fairing assembly (your other post) would you be
prepared to rebuild it as a naked, or use aftermarket fairing parts?

This might be the plan. Let's hear what they offer first.
Nope. I've just sold my naked SV650K3 because I wanted a faired one. No-
one makes an affordable replacement fairing that looks decent. The
genuine one is the best looking and cheapest. Mine has the optional
fairing lowers, which I did declare to the insurers and they've been
included in the quote at £344 plus vat for the pair.
