I was out with a pal today and he's often shown an interest in a Zed thou, so I let him have a go mister while I rode his SV. Now I know the SV isn't any lighter than the Zed (both 197 kilo's I've read) but by **** it felt like the SV weighed half a ton. (Imperial, none of this metric bollocks). The steering was REALLY heavy and it wasn't the tyre pressures as they were the first thing I checked when we got back to my place. (36 front, 40 rear). Tyres were Dunlop slippies too, so it wasn't as if they were sticking like shit to a blanket and stopping me turning. Handlebars felt very narrow and a bit of a stretch compared to my Jota bar equipped Zed, so maybe it was that, I dunno. Is this a normal trait of the SV or is it his bike in particular? As an aside, he fucking loved the Zed and couldn't believe how easy it was to turn at slow speed and how quickly it leaned over when he was moving more quickly. I'd take the handling of the Zed over the SV too, ANY and every day of the week. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Hmmm summat wrong with it. The SV650 only weighs a claimed 169kg dry (see http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/SV650SK7/Specs/Default.aspx). Even at 186kg dry, my old SV1000 was very flickable and did not exhibit the traits you describe.
Me and Christofire are going to take a proper look at it this week if plans go accordingly. You're right about the wright too (I didn't check, just repeated what I'd been told, like a ****) but the 650 felt heavier than the Zed. We'll see what's what after Chris has a bimble on it. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
Obviously, the steering bearings might be over-tightened, perhaps fucked - I'd start there if Chris feels the same about the handling.
