    Hi All,

Does anyone know if it's okay to use a synthetic oil in a Suzuki
    SV650?

    Thanks and regards

  3. Only once its FULLY run in, search on google, the basic idea is that you
use mineral till the engine is bed in, then switch to synthetic. Using
Synthetic before the engine is run in will cause cylinder glazing and issues
where the crap that NEEDS to be removed isnt... search for info.

Suzuki does, and they produce an owner's handbook (for SV650K3) which says:
    "Use a premium quality 4-stroke oil....rated SF or SG....10W-40 for -20° to
    40°C, or 20W-50 for -10° to 40°C."
They recommend oil change every 6,000km.
The choice of mineral or synthetic appears to be up to you and the depth of
    your pockets.
I'm not convinced there's any point in using top-dollar oil unless you're
regularly using the bike near its design limits, eg redlining it regularly.

I saw (friends bike) an old GPZ 1100 do 150 000 klms with no major work on
the donk but it got a 5000 klm oil change with plain ol dino castrol come
hell or high water. And he rode it like a race bike everwhere.
