I seriously doubt they perform more function or have more conscience
    than any other pro'(stitue)

Hey Rt ... I know that most people bag the "f" but I've had mine (03 gsxf)
now for just over a year now and love it. I'v put about 20K on the clock and
found it to be great 2 up, plenty quick enough, (ie I can keep up with the
sports guys up the oxly, most of the time" easy on tyres, chains and so on
and most importantly for me, can ride from port macquarie to sydney without
    needing back surgery.

Sure its not the fastest, baddest, sexiest machine out there, but for the
money you pay for em, its pretty good bang for buck (imho). I got mine for
$7k mid last year, so im sure that you can find em for around that price
    now.

    Cheers

I'll drink to that! A lovely bit of gear! But a bit heavy and a bit
expensive (13K$) compared with the little ones.
It's still on the list tho' :)

    However, aside from that...

    Kawasaki Z750 (11K$ on the road; 2 years warranty);
Yamaha FZ6N (11K$ on the road)
Cagiva Raptor 650 (11.5K$ on the road - Suzuki engine)
    Suzuki GSR600 (13K$)

What are your heavily biased opinions of these?

I have owned my GSXF750 since 1998 ,only put 38000km on it so far , handles
well , brakes better than my bro's VTR (in both our opinions!) goes hard
when neccessary , but not capable when sports bikes are around, comfortable
for me and no complaints from any pillions , good on fuel ,tyres chains and
so on , and when you get the fairings off it's easy to work on (simple
air/oil cooled motor with screw and locknut tappets. It is well balanced so
weight is not much of a problem , and has a good turning circle for town
work with a numpty like me on it :) My only complaint is a little
vibration thru the pegs at various revs , otherwise I've had no probs with
    it.
(for sale now if your really interested - no not tree fiddy an a
kickindanuts but $4750 with 12mths rego - Wollongong area)

You won't go wrong with any of those. I found Cagiva Aust. (Feeney's)
to be poor with getting warranty work done, and I know others have had
troubles. Having said that I love my Raptor. On the parameters given
the GSR is probably the best fit, but you really need to ride them to
    tell.

Ok - ta. Riding them will have to wait for a few weeks as I'll be away.
ATM the Z750 is in front by a nose - given my intended use of mainly
commuting with a few 2-4 hour trips - because of its reputed low down or
mid-range torque and in spite of its higher weight. The FZ6N which I came
across more or less by accident apparently surprised the local dealers when
recently they used a couple of them as marshals bikes for some pushbike race
or something. They were surprised how tractable they were down low...

The ZRX1200 is the one I'd really like, but I just can't justify its weight
for use around town - just as I couldn't justify a Z1R years ago even though
sorely tempted after being given one to ride for a while :)
Of course, if I was the size and shape of Arnie the Unpronounceable it'd be
    different!

Bloody norah ! The FZ6 was one of the first ones I recommended when you
asked, and then you bitched about ergonomics ! Yes, damn fine bike. FYI
the FZ and GSR have considerably better suspension (by a long way) than
    the Z750.
You're just chock full of contradictions man ! :)

The ZRX is a great bike, but doesn't even vaguely meet the parameters
    you first put up.

  8. I dunno that the GSR is really that much better, but the FZ is certainly
much better, and after finding myself on the Z750 early Monday morning
with the front wheel chittering across the ripples in one direction
while the back went the other way (at a modest lean angle, gulp!), I'd
be saying that while that magical motor delivers the goods, the
    suspension sucks.

Still, I'll bet you $3.50 he ends up buying one.
