Suzuki GS1000 owners?

From Googling (so worth what I paid for it...) there was apparently a
GS1000G available in other markets which had the same bore/stroke (70.0
x 64.8) as the GS1000. The GS1100 (not available in the UK?) and GS1100G
appear to have been bored and stroked (72.0 x 66.0).

    The GS850 appears to have been a bored 750 (69.0 x 56.4 vs 65.0 x 56.4).

I'd guess the 850 cranks were similar to/the same as the 750, not sure
    about the 1000 and 1100.

Aye, the Katana continues to be one of the worst styling exercises in
    history.

But seriously, guys, the thing was as ugly as an ugly thing that'd
been beaten repeatedly with the ugly stick. All nasty sharp edges and
sticky-out bits. Compared with the rest of the GS range, all nice
flowing lines, sexy curves, it just jarred.

Yebbut, you're well-known as a man with very poor taste in 80s bikes.
You even liked the CX, FFS.

You need to accept that there are few of us around who can see what an
abomination the whole Katanga range actually was. I couldn't see the
attraction when they first came out and I still can't.

I don't like them either. I thought the GS range just looked 'proper'.
As did the Z1. The Katanas were... Not proper.

I rate Katanas alongside CG125s and Marmite in being totally wrong
    however you look at them.

I seem to remember a piece on Radio 4 about the Katana when it was released.
Perhaps it was 'Going Places' before it was crap, or maybe 'PM'.
Anyway, someone referred to it as 'The first ergonomically designed
    motorcycle',
which I thought was rubbish at time.

Quite. Also 'gone wrong' at around that time was the Z1R, which, with
its huge triangular side panels, just ruined the wonderful lines of
the Z1/900/100 that preceded it. In retrospect it's not as bad as the
Katanas, but at the time it was just... wrong.
Any support is welcome. In any case, none of the bikes in your sig was
ever actually _bad_, just sort of middling.

    Oh, no argument there.
