In my '8 countries in 6 days' holiday last year I rode from the
    Austrian/Czech border to Prague.

I was on the K1100 and a Mercedes/Brabus SL came past. From no where.
I then tried to keep up for about forty miles. When there was heavy
traffic he pulled over to let me past... when there was no traffic I
made sure I kept out of the way.

    Bloody fast car.

Unfortunately rain stopped play (well a hailstorm that had me
    sheltering in some woods).

    Wotcha.
What about folks who can't get their leg over due to a SMIDSY incident ?
As much as I hate to say it, things ain't looking good in the "back to
    normal" dept.

Take one for a test ride, you will be surprised at the comfort, especially
with a decent windshield. The YP250 will happily cruise at around 70, the
400 and 600 models will obviously do more.
Lots of stowage already, add a nice big top box and you get serious
    touring/shopping ability.

I would rather be on a bike but the scoot is so much easier.

    You and me both then.

Not that I can blame a SMIDSY, though.

I can categorically say that the armco didn't see you coming. The Swiss
Highways Dept., on the other hand...
