    Nippy little buggers, aren't they?

One surprised me this morning at the traffic light motoGP, so I followed
    him.

"Har har" I thought, as we approached some stationary traffic. "He'll
never squeeze through there with those mirrors."

Then they magically folded in! Leccy folding mirrors on a bike.

    Want.

As are 911 turbos, as I found when riding back from the BOSM on Sunday.

Mind you, would've been a different story if I could've been arsed to
change down. Still, we both got to 160 pretty quickly.

Au contrair, Superscoots are the ideal transport for arthritis riddled
oldpharts who can no longer get their leg over [1].

I saw a 60's Lambretta the other day, and secretly coveted /it/

    But a modern superscoot ? [1]

    Paul.

[1] Oh, ok, maybe an MP3, just 'cos it looks so cool.

  7. I remember chasing one down the M23 a few years ago, and I had to get to
95 before I got past it.

I've only had one proper race with a car when I was on a bike.
Unfortunately the bike in question was the Tiger, & the car was a TVR
    Cerbera. I lost.

Curiously I can only recall one proper race with a non-friendly car
when I was also in a car, & that too was a TVR. I was in my turbo
porker that time. I won. Oh actually I've just remembered another,
against an Escort Cossie. I won that too.

I've had three proper dices before

    - my ZXR400 vs some horrible shitty japanese thing that had been tuned
to hell and back and I was spanked beyond belief.

    - the gixer thou vs a Lambo Murcielago on the A5. No contest, as darsy
    will testify

    - a Merc/AMG CL or something on the A41 to Aylesbury. We both pinned it
alongside each other and it was only when he hit his speed limiter that
I started to pull significantly ahead. Then I realised that meant I was
doing more than 155mph in torrential rain. Self-preservation kicked in
    rather quickly at that point.
Oddly, I've only been spanked in the car once, by one of those Clio V6
thingies. I rarely bother though, as I forget how fruity the Leon is.

    Simon Wilson spoke:
When I did my IAM thing at Sheffield there was a chap who passed his IAM
test on one - their first pass on a scooter.

Out on runs he had no trouble keeping up with the rest - and before anyone
says owt, the Sheffield lot were bloody quick and treated NSL's as
    'advisory'!

    Krusty spoke:
My most recent was chasing a Porsche down the A46 on the fully laden FJ1200
with panniers & top box full - I backed off when it started weaving at 140

Earliest was a drag-race against a Jensen FF on my old CX500 - I won, but
backed off at 60 as it was a busy main road in St Helens (Near YTC's gaff
as it goes) and he passed with a smirk on his face thinking he had won.

My Carrera 4 could spank any bike/rider on a wet twisty road but on
something straight and dry your Gixxer should cream any sort of conventional
car between 10-160mph, AMG or not? Something like an Atom, perhaps not, but
one is hardly going to object in that case.

In the AMG case, I'm not sure I was really pinning it, more matching his
acceleration. It was, as I said, absolutely pissing down.

I recall Loz collecting the GSXR1000 from Belfast. I was in a Carrera 2 or a
Cab. When we got to the motorway on ramp we both nailed it. Pissed all over
    the porker.
That said he nearly went to Enniskillen rather than Dublin )

I daresay your 911 was a bit slower than the turbo.

Not much difference at those sort of speeds, the 996/7 Turbo is a pretty
pointless road car unless you live somewhere it can be regularly wound up in
    the 140-190mph range.

I haven't driven one but I understand the latest version Turbo is something
    else altogether though.

Bear in mind I had recently had a mini stroke and wasn't up to riding
much, and had only just picked the bike up and wasn't used to it so
wasn't giving it 100%... still pissed all over the Carrera 2 though.

We had a nice little run out to Lisburn on that basis but on the M1 sliproad
you gave it the beans. Sufficiently so that the Dublin junction a mile
further down nearly eluded you ;o)
I was trying to catch you up and flashing the lights.

I didn't actually max the bike right out until I was past the Drogheda
toll booths. Until then I'd been fairly careful as I was on A roads and
dual carriageways and had no idea where I was going. I still haven't a
clue how I made it to Dublin in time to catch the ferry - all I did was
point the bike south and rode.
