every single road-going supermoto I've seen has 17" front and rear, so
you can put on standard sticky sportsbike rubber.

A dealer... ;-) Seriously though there's nothing obscure about KTMs, &
parts are dirt cheap too. Husky have all the financial backing they'll
ever need now from MV/Proton, & are due to have some tasty motos out in
the near future. Husabergs are common enough in the off-road scene so
shouldn't pose a problem either. VORs are gorgeous & unique, but
probably best avoided as a toy.

Well, no, I realise KTM are the most mainstream.
    in

    Didn't know that.
    Husabergs are Swedish, right?
If I wanted a unreliable, temperamental Italian supermoto, I'd extend
my mortgage and get a Husky Nox or a Vertemati SR570.

    They do - usually 17".

Husky bikes are owned/built by MV Agusta (as are Cagiva), who in turn
are effectively owned by Proton. All the other Husky stuff such as
lawnmowers is still owned by the original Swedish owners.
Yep - http://www.husaberg.se/ Only problem with them is the rather
    yucky blue/yellow colour schemes.
If you want *really* unreliable, you can't beat a TM!

I knew the bikes where now Italian rather than Swedish, but I didn't
realise they were part of a decent-sized industrial group.

I did already reply to this, but it appeared to time out - probably
appear right after I post this.
    use: commuting/general urban foolishness/b-roads idiocy/pathetic
    attempts at stunts

    hassle: as little as possible.

    as little as possible.

I`ve got a pair of Morad S/moto wheels for sale.
Details are Morad alloy rims with stainless spokes laced to the hubs of a
`98 Yam XT660E and shod with Pirelli Dragon Evo`s both with loads of tread.
Front size is rim 3.50 x 17 and tyre 120/70.
    Rear is a 4.25 x 17 rim and a 150/60 tyre.
Asking £200 for the pair but if anyone on UKRM wants them I`ll let them go
    for £170.

the only 660 supermoto they seem to do is the SMC - is that what you
    meant?

Also, the KTM website claims the SMC only has 1/2 the power of the LC4
    - that can't be right, can it?

No, it can't be... It should be around 49bhp, going up to around 54 with
a race can, rejet and airbox mod

Okay, talking bollocks. There's a carb slide restrictor for
homologation. Remove carb slug and airbox top and you get 56bhp. Add
race can, rejet and it's 60 or more bhp

The 660's the kickstart only race bike isn't it? You may want the 640
LC4 if you want a button.
